Review summary

First cruise for my wife and myself. Probably not going with Royal Caribbean again. They should have recommended another ship after Cuba was canceled.

I don't think cruising is for you, because you don't understand how this works.

I know you are a first timer, it sounds like the smaller ships in any line isn't for you. Try to book the Oasis class (RCCL), they will have more for you to try and enjoy, like the dance and comedy clubs and there are a whole host of other venues to try out while on board. I am looking forward to this ship in the next coming days, I want a smaller ship, can't wait. Happy cruising to all!

Royal Caribbean is a great line—the Cuba ban was sudden. As for the ship in the comments. I first sailed Empress in 2001! Go on a big ship, 7 days and enjoy! The short trips sound like a good idea for a first cruise but they aren’t—you never have time to relax and enjoy. Our last four were 2 on RCCL Adventure of the Seas and 2 Disney Fantasy (no kids). Next is Harmony of the Seas Oct 20.

When the US govt blocked Cuba, Royal offered full refunds to impacted customers. So it sounds like Royal did what it needed to do. The rest was up to the customer.

The cruise line can’t just put you on another ship at the drop of a port. Their itinerary are planned and they try to fill up ships way in advance. We love the Empress!

Next time try Carnival they truly are the fun ships

I wouldn’t write off an entire cruise line based on one cruise on an older, smaller ship.
