Review summary
The cruise was a great experience and Havana was fabulous. Everything was fun, interesting, and overall a great time was had. I would definitely go to Cuba again.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Check-in was a little bit slow but overall embarkation was fine.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food on Empress of the Seas was the same in the main dining room as on my other RCCI trips but the food in the Windjammer was much better than in the past. I really dislike going to the Windjammer but I went several times on this cruise.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The activities were fine but the pool in small.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The ventriloquist on this cruise was very good, main comedian wasn't that great, singers and dancers were ok...dancing was better than singing.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service and staff was the best of any Royal cruise I had previously been on, Dining room and Windjammer staff was great. Stateroom attendant was friendly and available at all times.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
It was great being on a small ship and it was very clean and pretty well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
I had an oceanview cabin and it was 139 sq ft, which I knew when I booked it but it IS small and the bathroom was tiny, tiny, tiny.
Ship tip
I would sail on this ship again and you never had to walk far to get anywhere on this ship. It is not one of the larger ships but is great in it's own right.
I took a private 6 hour tour in a classic car and saw everything I wanted to see. It is a very interesting city with wonderful architecture. I also took a tour to the nightly canon ceremony at a fort. Havana was great.
