The ship is beautiful and well kept. It is clean and in good shape. The food on board is beyond delicious. The chefs do an excellent job at making sure the food is beautifully presented and brought to the table hot. The buffet is a great room with windows all around to afford a view of the sea. The food is very good and there is plenty of it. The waiters will bring drinks to the table for you. There are so many activities on board to keep you busy and entertained and the entertainment is always top notch.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We were able to check in without a wait. There were people directing the flow of traffic and it make for a seamless embarkation.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We enjoyed the gourmet food in the main dining room and the waiter was attentive to our needs. The buffet was always delicious and great for a quick bite to eat. I especially liked the flavored water available and I was able to get my lactose free milk there and in the dining room. I like how there is a wash station before entering the buffet and a sanitizing area. The coffee is good and there are waiters in the buffet who bring the coffee to your table. There is a wide array of items to chose from in the buffet so there is something for everyone.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Enjoyed the trivia games. There are many activities available on board and it is difficult to get to them all.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment on board was fantastic. I enjoyed the shows and I liked the professional dancers.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We were pleased with the staff and the service was spot on. Anything we wanted was available to us and it made for a great vacation.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Empress is one of the smaller ships which I prefer because there are not so many people tripping over each other. It keeps down on illness with fewer people too. The ship is easy to get around and because it is smaller, it is cozier. It just felt like home.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had an accessible stateroom and I had room for my wheelchair and the motorized scooter I rented for the week. Had plenty of room to get around. The bathroom was large and I was able to get the wheelchair in there. We did not see much of the cabin steward but he always seemed to know when we were not there because when we came back to the room it was spotless.
Ship tip
Make sure your hands are clean before eating. Try to get on deck for walks and get some sunshine. Be aware the walls are thin and your voice carries. Try to visit all of the ship and find what area you feel most comfortable in. There is so much to do and you probably won't have time for it all. Book tours before you leave from home so you won't be disappointed when they fill up. Patches are available from your Doctor in the form of a prescription if you think you may have a problem with the motion of the ship. Try and meet other people and make new friends. Try different foods in the dining room and enjoy everything that is offered. There are so many tours available and it is fun to try something new.
Havana was an experience to visit. It is clean and it has so much to offer. It is a beautiful city and I love
the old buildings that have so much history. The people of Cuba are always smiling and kind. They seem happy and want to please. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Thanks for your review. I'll be on her, the smallest ship of the fleet, in January, and then on Symphony, the largest ship of the fleet in April. I'm excited for both experiences.
