We realised before departure that The Empress was a much older, smaller ship than The Brilliance (our previous cruise ship). We were not prepared for the size of the cabins. They had everything that we needed but on a too small a scale especially for 4 people in one room. It created many a tension. The ships layout was faultless. Beautifully decorated and small enough to get around during our cruise. Entertainment was probably the best of all the cruises that we have been. Always something to do and see, the evening entertainers were fabulous with a show to suit everyone!! The windjammer cafe was on a much smaller scale than The Brilliance and the amount of time spent queing to get our food took a lot longer, but the meals were always of good quality and tasted good. I however preferred the dining room. Service was very good and the dining staff always eager to please. Bars and lounges were of superior quality and the entertainment laid on there was always great fun!! The itinerary was fabulous on this ship and I would do it all again. However, if this itinerary was not available I would have doubts if I would sail on The Empress again for the simple reason if its small size.

Pros: Ports of Call

Cons: Cabin Sizes
