Ship: Empress of the Seas (RETIRED) 223 Reviewed: 7 years ago
We just returned from the 12-7 to 12-14, seven-day Western Caribbean cruise. We had cruised on this ship in '98 and were hoping the service would be as good. Royal Caribbean didn't disappoint.Embarkation went relatively quick. The room stewards were friendly and courteous. All we had to do was ask and it happened, no questions asked, all this while smiling. The food in the main dining room was good to excellent. The buffets were ok. They seemed to have trouble from being either bland or too peppery. Our waiter, Jerome, was the best and proved it by winning employee of the month while we were there. Ask for this waiter if you can --you won't be disappointed. The shows were all enjoyable and a whole lot better quality than the last Carnival ship we went on.Some may get bored as this little ship doesn't have rollerskating or an ice rink, but if you would like to still have a traditional cruise, this little ship is a gem. I wish R.C. would build a few more like her.We didn't partake of any kids programs but all the children seemed to be happy.Hope this helps, Jeff
