Bottom line...this cruise passes the test and you should take it as long as you have resonable expectations. Embarkation was a snap, well organized. Take a taxi from the airport, it's $16 total for up to 4 people versus $12 per person on RCI's bus. GET THERE EARLY, they board at 12 noon even though the ship pulls out at 8pm. Get unpacked relax and even go back to the duty free shops after lunch. FOOD: Got our early dining changed to late..that was nice! The food is outstanding. It was our third cruise and food was better than the other two. The escargot-just try it! Chocolate desserts are their specialty-yummy. Remember to order as many appetizers/entrees as you want. The staff is professional but not as personal as others we've had. They work hard but wear their weariness. Vegas-style regulars, however, are young and unrefined. Don't rush to these shows. The Nordic Empress is well-laid out and has a modern decor. We rocked too much though and I am convinced they had stabilizer problems the last two days! Should be fixed by now for you though.ROOMS: We had a Category F, outside. It was clean and comfortable with a picture window. Shower was miniscule. Shore Excursions: Hire a taxi when you get there and try to share a taxi with other guests. Much better value than buying from the ship. Diving in Barbados is great! The Jolly Roger trip is a blast, but the rum drinks are potent! Try the salsa-merange at the lounge! Have FUN-we did! Nov 10-15, 2001
