Review summary

Where to begin!! Thank goodness for the Ports, because it was the most

boring Cruise we have ever been on, and I've bee on 20+cruises.

3 out of 4 of us traveling together got the Gastro bug that was going around the ship, According to guest services it was only a few, which is not true. Last nigh of

my husband dining(he did not get it) Dining room was dead, he spoke to numerous people that he had met who had sick relatives due to the virus, they tried to cover it up. My 79 year old mother in law is still sick, since Thursday, we returned home on Saturday. We were treated like pariahs by Princess, they were vey unconcerned for our well being, than they has the nerve to bill our Account without our consent for

catching a virus on their ship. The Entertainment was the worst ever on any cruise that I've been on, and I love cruising and have never written a bad review, but this one is very deserving. Will never set foot on one of their ships again.

Seriously we had no issues at all.

I am sorry you fell ill but I am glad they confined you to avoid spreading whatever you were suffering from. Feel better soon.

I was on that very same ship at that very same time. We had a great time. Both dining rooms were always full and the crew made sure everyone was following sanitary procedures. My husband and I are very social and news travels very fast on a ship. We did not hear of any outbreaks. This was my 5th cruise with princess lines and I have been impressed each and every time.

Thanks, i'm fine.. that was Jan. 2015, Nothing the ship did caused my flu. I was off the ship at every port, so I could have caught the bug anywhere. Stuff happens. We love cruising and plan to do it more often. Princess is the best.

Well I wish you a speedy recovery and I am sorry you fell ill. Were you on the island princess or the emerald princess?

TeamDavonavo    8 years ago

I'm Mrs Davonavo..I did catch the flu on day 11 of a 15 day cruise. When I got home, my doctors office was handing out face masks to everyone entering. It seems that winter 2015 there was a flu epidemic. The vaccine was flawed ...they missed the main virus. The Island Princess crew was excellent. There were Purell type stations at every stair, elevator, dining area. They had an attendant at the dining room to make sure people used them. We have been on quite a few cruises. Princess is our favorite. You can get sick on any cruise line or place with close quarters. All cruise lines make an effort to isolate sick passengers. I am sure that is why they took you to the rear exit. I bet other passengers were grateful for the extra precaution.

Sometimes I think people talk junk for no reason at all just to get something going calling attention to themselves.

mafalda    8 years ago

Agreed cheezlady. I was there as well and it was wonderful. Not once was there mention of anybody being sick. They even had blankets for movies under the stars. They don't do that if there's an outbreak. Enjoy your trip stevfrn4. You will love it!

If you're talking about the 2/27 - 3/5 sailing, we didn't hear anything about a gastro virus (and trust me, we've been on ships with Code Red). Yes, if someone has Noro, they are confined to their cabin (on any cruise line). Not sure what your account was billed for? This was one of the nicest cruises we've been on, not boring at all! Guess it just goes to show, it takes all kinds.

Did the CDC officially identify this ship as having an outbreak? We are sailing Thursday and do not want to come in contact with this bug! Thank goodness I purchased the all you can drink beverage package! I heard alcohol kills germs!! Go Princess!!!!!!

I found when you're dealing with this amount of people and I confined area it's best to wash your hands every time you touch the menus using the hand rails to go up and down the steps touching the button in the elevator and so on and so on but the most important thing is keep your hands clean been on 32 Cruises princess and never had a problem with a virus

TeamDavonavo    8 years ago

Depends on the seriousness of the illness. My wife was treated for catching a virus but not confined. Others were confined to their cabin. With that many people in close proximity, the chance of catching something is pretty good. Be over cautious with keeping your hands clean, follow all health recommendations of the ship. Sooner or later, something's gonna get you.

Don't all cruise lines confine sick passengers?

TeamDavonavo    8 years ago

So they billed you for treating the virus, not catching the virus. Sounds fair.

I didn't really Imagine the fact the we had Medical teams Dis Infecting 2 of our rooms, leaving Norovirus Info and confining us to our rooms, Or that fact that medical personnel Escorted us off of the ship through a back Exit at 8:30 AM, when we weren't scheduled to Disembark until 10:35. I never said that the staff was not good. I said that Princess treated us poorly, not the staff.

TeamDavonavo    8 years ago

Whoa! They billed your account for the virus? Was that considered "entertainment"?

mafalda    8 years ago

We were on the same ship and have no complaints. I never heard of anyone being sick with gastro and our dining room was full every night. The service and staff were excellent. We really enjoyed the entertainment, especially the culinary show. We have 2 teenagers and they had a blast. They didn't want to come off the ship lol. But if you're looking for a partying boat, Princess is not for you. I guess different strokes for different folks!
