We have sailed on all the major cruise lines many times and we would rate Princess among the best. The ship was fine and as a matter of fact we did not get to investigate all the areas such as the skywalkers room which we regret as we heard it was a beautiful view. The ship was fine and the ports fine except we would have preferred to dock at Havensight rather then Crown Bay in St. Thomas. Of my two concerns embarcation and deembarkation, getting on the ship (preferred) was fine and even all the others got on quickly. The dembarkation was OK although on the last morning the usual noise and hustling and bustling prevailed with people being in a hurry and we can't figure out why people insist on taking half their luggage (such as carry ons) instead of putting it out the night before which makes for uncomfortable elevator service, etc. Our other major concern anytime dining which all the ships now offer was not exactly perfected as far as we are concerned. The most popular times for dinner were between 7 and 8 pm and most times we had to wait for a table. Early in our sailing experiences, "open sitting" meant as soon as you appeared at the dining room you were seated at the next table and there was no waiting although I admit anytime meant you had a preference of sharing or alone dining and selecting those you may wish to join. We believe the solution would be for the ships that offer this service to have one particular dining room devoted to this serv ice and not have it a part of fixed dining also. The waiting was not terrible but annoying hanging around for 20 minutes to be seated and sometimes lining up at the door. One of our favorite pastimes was the casino and we feel the cruise lines have an advantage of those who partake since they have not governing commission such as those at Las Vegas and Atlantic City which means most people do not win and we did not notice many winning nights for anyone. Believe if there is no commission to govern them they should be a bit more giving and not try to make up for economic problems by making it more difficult to win. We don't expect to hit the jackpot but would enjoy a more equitable situation since we frequent casinos off the ships also and at least you can say once in a while we won. We also want to commend our travel agent who was very helpful having been previously a cruise director and worked for many of the cruise lines. His desire to help rather than just obtain another cruiser was very appreciated

Pros: meeting the different people

Cons: anytime dining

Recommends Emerald Princess? Yes!

Entertainment
We were not able to participate in all of them but there was more than enough activities for those who wanted to participate
Ship Quality
Being a relatively new ship we found it to be fine despite being one of the biggest (3000 guests) and clean since this was the ship that previously had many end of being sick
Food and Dining
Being offered an alternate menu each night was fine since there may be times you are not interested in the main menu offered
Cabin / Stateroom
what makes this rating is the stateroom attendant and we had one that was great and did a quick job when desired without imposing upon our privacy. The door indication (privacy or make up room ) was the key to this service
Service and Staff
as usual the staff was fine. We particularly appreciate not having announcements repeated in additional languages. English on those ships from the US is the proper way. If you want to cater to foreigners then have a ship designed for foreign travelers and limit the number of announcements particularly in the morning
