This was our first experience with Princess, and we were very impressed. Loved the overall cleanliness of the ship, the friendliness of the staff and the delicious and plentiful food options. The thin crust, hand-tossed pizza (available from 11 am to 1:00 a.m) was delicious, and we found the desserts to be much more rich and flavorful than on our previous cruises with NCL. We chose the "anytime" dining option, and had no problem getting a table for two when we were ready to eat (although, I must admit, we were usually right there when the restaurants opened, to avoid long lines.) They did not have an "eggs cooked to order" section at the breakfast buffet (something my husband and I both enjoy) but that was about the only thing that was missing. We particularly enjoyed the International Cafe" area where we could grab a quick dessert or cold salad plate without having to venture all the way up to the buffet. Public-area restrooms were immaculate and staff were all very helpful and friendly. We also loved the "movies under the stars" feature. Nothing like sitting outside on a warm, balmy night to watch a new release movie - with popcorn and warm cookies. We were not overly impressed with a couple of the ports (not sure why, but we expected more from St. Thomas and St. Maartin) but we loved the new tourist/cruise center at Grand Turk. Wish we could have stayed in that area all week - the beach and shops were great! Didn't like that all the penny slots in the casino were configured so that you had to bet at least 20 cents, and my husband (who loves Texas Hold 'Em tournaments) was a little dissapointed by the fact that the tournaments were "virtual" (played on a video console) rather than played with real cards. We appreciated the fact that there were two non-smoking nights in the casino, but wish the whole thing was smoke-free, since it was very difficult to spend time in there on smoking nights. (We heard many other passengers express the same opinion.) Overall - we had a wonderful time and would definitely cruise on the Emerald Princess again!
