It's Disney! Enough said! by mrt1027

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Fantasy / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Be sure to pack water shoes. The ocean at Cozumel and Castaway Cay are full of shells and rocks and hurt if you are barefooted. The Royal Court Tea is a must for a little princesses. It is pricey, but it's worth it. The cost for a child is 210.00 but she will get lots of gifts. They do charge for adults (65.00) and all you get is tea and snacks, so I think that is way too much for the adults. I think one accompanying adult should be free. I was very impressed with the prices of the merchandise in the stores and the specialty shops. Most cruise lines overcharge for items bought on the ship, but Disney was very reasonable. Over all, the cruise was outstanding!

Very Unhappy with the CHANGES to the Entertainment on the ship by ckonios

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Fantasy / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I'm thinking this may be my last Disney Cruise. We have always loved Disnay cruises and the Great entertainment on board. Sorry to say that Major changes have been make reducing the number of shows on the ship. Looks like Disney is trying to make a great profit to pay for the new ships they ordered. !!!!

Must eat at Remy when... by abumbaca

Ship: Disney Fantasy

Must eat at Remy when on ship. Yes it’s a bit pricey but worth every cent. The experience is memorable for life. Best meals in my life I ever had. As a worldwide traveler and visited too many countries to mention this restaurant compares or is superior to Paris, Rome, Madrid, NYC, LA, London or Greece. Unbelievable experience. Service was impeccable and quality of dining was perfect. Simply the best dining experience of my life.

Wonderful ship, sad islands still very much in recovery mode. by bmetcalf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Fantasy / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This ship alternates between 7-night cruses to eastern and western Caribbean. As such, it carries a lot of first-time cruisers. It also tends to have more children than most. If this describes you, it's a great way to see what cruising has to offer. If you're an experienced cruiser without kids, it may be less ideal. Service and entertainment on Disney are always first-rate (though we did have a dud cabin attendant on this trip). Despite being childless, experienced cruisers, we booked this cruise to see how the islands were recovering, and perhaps to leave a few coins to help them out. I can't say that part of the trip made me happy, but the rest of the program certainly did.

Disney fantasy was our first... by MLeMay57

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Fantasy

Disney fantasy was our first cruise and the bar has been set very high! My wife and I went for our honeymoon and it was beyond perfect. The food was amazing, the service was world class, and the on board entertainment and activities where plentiful and perfectly fit to the targeted age group. We loved it so much we booked another while on board! I also enjoyed the fact that there was no casino on board.

This was our 1st and... by afpeace2001

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Fantasy

This was our 1st and Last Disney Cruise 🚢. The Cruise overall wasn’t better than the Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruises we have been on. I wouldn’t recommend DCL unless you must have the Disney characters onboard. But, for the increase in price compared to RCL or CCL it definitely wasn’t worth it. I will say DCL is top notch for their shows, they really go all out.

A Western Caribbean Fantasy by redbeardhoosier

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Fantasy / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We always wondered if the "Disney difference" in cruising was true - and we found out, emphatically, that it is. What a wonderful cruise experience, from beginning to end. In cruising, you get what you pay for, and Disney is worth every penny. While not every cruise will be with Disney, I can see us regularly cruising Disney - with our daughters, one day with our grandchildren, and even just the two of us. Background. My wife and I are in our early 40s, we have two tween-age girls, aged 11 and 9 at the time of sailing (currently ages 12 and 10). This cruise was our fourth overall, and first with Disney Cruise Line. We are reasonably experienced cruisers, having taken (at the time of writing this review) five cruises on Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Disney, and MSC (and with five more booked on Norwegian and Disney). We travel as a family, and look for a mix of relaxation, family time (these two being my personal #1 priority), good food, entertainment, and fun in a cruise vacation. While I try to incorporate educational experiences, we do not usually seek out action/adventure experiences. For this cruise, we traveled with my parents, who are experienced cruisers but who had also never cruised with Disney. We booked (adjoining) staterooms 6104 and 6106, both a category 04D Deluxe Family Ocean View with Verandah, with no included promotions.

Magically Relaxing! by ddsteuck

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Fantasy / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Disney has the finest ships afloat today. Their cleanliness and the attention from the crew is unsurpassed by any other cruise line. The cost of the cruise is similar to a vacation on shore when considering the food, activities and tours available. We will being cruising with Disney again and plan to travel on each ship. We've already completed the Wonder and Fantasy with the Magic and Dream left.

Disney does it right! This... by cruizer1280

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Fantasy

Disney does it right! This was like Disney on steroids! Although some of my family and others onboard who had fallen ill because of sea sickness, it was a bustling ship. Their Navigator App is so easy to use and is free for everyone. We were all able to communicate with everyone and find our favorite things to do and have our full itinerary on hand all the time. The ship was very clean and it was nice that they require everyone to wash their hands before dinner and also in the kids and teen clubs. The food in Cabanas was really good but, breakfast never changed. All of the food in Animator’s Palate and Royal Court and Enchanted Garden were exquisite. The ice cream was always good and Sweet on You was so yummy! Our room steward and wait staff were amazing and very helpful. I was even helped by the Captain himself to use the wave phone. What a gentleman. For the sea days, the pools were always busy. Also, finding a chair was impossible by the pool w/o having to go to deck 12. The decks are extremely hot so, wear shoes or water shoes. The entertainment for both adults and families were amazing and so happy that we did them. The best advise is to plan your day ahead and stand in line early because the theaters will fill up quickly. We had early dinning so, going to any show was easy. Buy the popcorn bucket and get free refills. Saves you money. The music on the ship was obviously only Disney tunes and was not played loudly to drown out conversations. Lastly, most things ended early for the younger ages but, make most of what you can. At least Oceaneers Club stayed open till midnight. The ship was beautiful and well maintained and very helpful staff all around. To bad like all other Disney vacations, the cost is too great to turn around and book really soon but, doesn’t mean we will not book another cruise with Disney. Overall, satisfied and thank you Disney for a great experience.

This was our second Disney... by Rilecruisers

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Fantasy

This was our second Disney fantasy cruise. This time it was a bit of a disappointment. The ship wasn't as pristine as it was three years ago. The food was average (other than the filet nights), lobster was tough, most of the desserts were cafeteria quality, etc. However, our dining room server, Antonio was fantastic. He went above and beyond every single night to make our experience magical and enjoyable. He was from India and paid attention to details and made an extra effort to make our picky eater of a daughter happy. He even had the kitchen make her fried shrimp three nights and this wasn't on the menu! Our stateroom 6540 was noisy and in direct line of sight from the stairs, eletvetaor lobby. Our room was clean and the room hostess did a nice job. Our daughter said that the upper pull down bunk was hard as a rock. She's never complained before. What I mainly noticed was the overall change in the quality of the crew and staff was lacking. We saw crew cutting up regularly with one another, not working or cleaning, and just a change in professionalism. One crew member in particular, Sheldon who was working security for when we were getting off port in Grand Cayman was very rude to us. He allowed 200+ people off the ship ahead of when we had been waiting 10 minutes on a tender ahead of them. There were only 8 of us waiting so it was a bit of a shock to then be told to get behind this large crowd and wait even longer. He didn't care and when I asked him why, he was not very nice to say the least. This experience with Sheldon almost ruined our day. It was very upsetting. We made a complaint to guest services and the manager said made excuses and noted cultural differences. She said she'd make it up to us and sent a sleeping beauty Barbie doll to our room for my almost 13 year old and a Star Wars hat and change purse (that looked to be for a 3 year old) to my 15 year old son. No note, nothing was attached. It was bizarre and disappointing. Not acceptable to experience this rudeness and unprofessionalism when spending twice as much as other cruise lines. Palo was fantastic. The food and experience was superb. Our service there was excellent. We wished that we would've had the same food quality during the cruise as it was in Palo and feel that the food should be better when paying $8,000 for a vacation. Our Disney booked excursions were great. We did the dolphin discovery at Cozumel (push, pull, swim) and it was wonderful. Just wish we'd have gotten to Channakaab earlier so that we could've enjoyed more of the activities, but we ran out of time. In Grand Cayman, we did he Sea Trek under water excursion. It was awesome! My husband and son loved it and are now inspired to get their scuba certifications. It scared my 12 year old daughter a bit but she got used to it after a few minutes. I would highly recommend both excursions. You could easily book these on your own and save some money. We booked thru Disney to have the transportation included. However in Cayman, the guide just walked us for about 5 minutes to the dock for this excursion. In all the Disney Fantasy felt average. This was our second cruise on Fantasy and it didn't even compare to the first time. We've cruised with Royal Caribbean and Carnival and so far Carnival is our favorite. The food is much better on the Carnival Vista and was less than half the price! I think the trick with Carnival is to cruise on their newest ships. We will likely not cruise again with Disney due to just not seeing an advantage, quality decreasing, or reason that sets them apart anymore. It's sad, because we really enjoyed our first cruise with them. Our kids are getting older as well and it seems that they are also outgrowing the Disney experience. We had a nice time, but have on other cruise lines as well.

First Disney Cruise - WOW!! by Ripcord

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Fantasy / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had previously been on four cruises two ocean and two river. Disney was a step above any of them. Yes, Disney is more costly, but we will repeat a family Disney cruise when the European option is available.

Was on the Disney Fantasy... by MajorT

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Fantasy

Was on the Disney Fantasy over spring break this year. If you are a Star Wars fan, this is your ship. The Star Wars day at sea was beyond awesome. My 5 yr old grandson dressed as Kylo Ren (I was Obi Wan Kanobi). The whole ship is decorated in Star Wars and thet keep making announcements like you are on the death star. The food was beyond fantastic and ,of course, the entertainment was great. This was our 5th Disney cruise, and they just keep getting better. Cant wait for the first new ship to launch in 2021.
