Review summary

Had a great time! Will return if prices don’t go too high.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embark was pretty easy. We were late for out arrival time, but still walked right on ship. Was given the boarding group I would have had if I had been on time, rather than the group people ahead of us were given. Walked right on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food in the main dining rooms has gone down hill substantially since I started sailing this line in the 90s. Bad overall quality. Service is excellent. I will say that Palo does have excellent food and service. I was able to secure 2 dinner reservations there as well as a brunch reservation. The service is exceptional as well. If traveling prior to the upcoming dry dock, ask to be seated in Boba’s section. She is exceptional! Bar service tended to be above average and heavy handed pours.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was very dusty. I thought this was odd. My prior experience with Disney was that staterooms tended to be exceptionally clean. Visible dust on the baseboards, bathroom floors and counters, as well as shelving was unfortunate and surprising.

Ship tip

Starboard side if the Dream Class ships has the best port views. The Rainforest Room within the spa is a nice getaway from the crowds and noise. Watch out for the spa treatment up sells and ALWAYS confirm the price prior to your treatments. An 18% gratuity is added to 99% of onboard purchases.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Nassau is a typical port city. Stay in the tourist area. You are not really welcome in the areas that regular people live and work. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone. We opted for a day pass at the British Colonial Hilton. Excellent service and quality, if not a tad expensive on the drinks and food. We went over our food and beverage credit, as expected. They do take credit cards as well as cash.

I had intended to purchase a placeholder while onboard, but tbh the price has gotten too high on this line for what you are getting. It used to be that DCL didn’t nickel and dime or have tiered service. I could pay half of what I paid for this cruise and go longer or sail in a higher tier stateroom for what next seasons pricing is. Until food, cleanliness, the nickel and dime, and the attitude change, I’ll be sailing another line.

I agree with the food going downhill. I wasn’t impressed with the dining at all.

Fantastic, all cruise lines will take a hit, price hike when it blows over is inevitable I think
