best cruise we've taken by JoelK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

the ship was very clean as was our room. on other cruises, the crew staff looked tired and disheveled but they were very happy and very well dressed at all times of the day and night. the crew through out the ship were so nice and helped with true concern and never looked bothered by anything we asked for.

Alaskan Cruise on Diamond Princess by CandeeM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I would not recommend the Diamond Princess, or any other Princess ships. There could have been more activities planned for "at sea days, or scenic cruising days", instead the highlights of the cruise days were, "ping pong tournament, card games, and 1 bingo game". The most awful experience was disembarkation. Sure they had "on-board check-in program for qualified guests, but for me personally, my cruise came with pre and post cruise transfers. I had rented a car in Vancouver. Princess cruiseline staff said I would be able to disembark the ship without problem. Came to find out on the day of disembarkation I would have to go with the tour bus to the airport, Claim my luggages, and then I could rent a car. if only princess cruiseline staff were more knowledgeable, this problem would have been prevented. Overall, I am very disappointed in this ship.

Good memories by SherryB3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The ship was a wonder - a huge complete floating resort! The staff was friendly and helpful and the way they managed so many people was impressive - so organized. We didn't ever feel crowded. The use of of the Cruise Card made everything so easy. We came home rested and relaxed. Thank you Princess.

North to Alaska by CurtL

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The ship was nice, but nothing extravagant. We were disappointed in the lay out of the show room. Looked like a college lecture hall. The first production show was not very appealing, but the second production show was much better. The ships crew were very cordial and our cabin attendant was great. We did not like to have to pay at the ice cream bar and were disappointed that the food venues around the pool only stayed open till 6 pm. We were disappointed that you had to walk through the Club Fusion to get to the Wake View Bar, especially since that was where they were having the GLBT gatherings. It was inconvenient to have to go up a set of stairs to complete a walk around the Promenade Deck. Overall we did enjoy our cruise and would do it again.

princess will not be my cruise line by DougM6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The cruise through alaska was wonderful as far as the views or ports were concerned. The on board natualist was very informative and spoted many wildlife sightings. But once outside of the cabin and around the ship it felt like we were just trapped on Rodeo drive while being treated like we were filthy passengers. The captain made only one brief comment about some passengers getting sick (which I did not hear) and from that point we were shot by whoever with antibacterial hand wash before entering any dining. Not even allowed to scoop out our own food. Or our drinks. You might think this a good thing, but imagine someone else putting your salad on your plate one ingredient at a time.... I don't smoke but found many passengers upset with the multiple warnings about not throwing ciggarettes overboard even their were NO ashtrays anywhere to be found. In our traditional dining we were seated alone next to the server station and he rushed us through a five course meal in 20 minutes flat!!! It took longer to get dressed up!! The guy literally pulled our plates from us as we had taken our second bite twice.. No entertainment worthy of speaking of. One band was playing to a great big empty room and we went in and sat right up close hoping for dance or two.. noT! THEY FINISHED the song they were on and took a 30 minute break? the waiter, one of 3 standing in there brought one drink in 10 minutes but would never look our way for the next 30.. when the band returned they asked if we had any requests and they laughed at a bob seager request and played something else.. we left. Any way, the scenery and weather was beautiful.. the cabin and stewart wonderful. but dining and entertainment options were just plain awful.

Absolutely fabulous by Bctraveller

Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The Diamond Princess is a very large ship with 3000 passengers. The amenities and public areas are spread through out the ship so as not to cause you the feeling of over crowdedness

mexican riviera cruise by JasonR53330081

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Mexico

ship is spectacular and as always, Princess does a great job. Some differences noticed from the Caribbean cruises also on Princess, include a weaker push on photos and alcohol. This can be interpreted either way but essentilally, photo opportunities are daily on the caribbean cruises but only 2 or 3 times on the Diamond. The "pushing" of the booze all over the ship, it was there, offered pleanty but not heavy as it as been in the past. I am not sure if that is a direct result of the recent "overboards" in recent past, or because there were a record number of under 18 yrs old passengers...over 750. Also, not that there wasn't alway pleany of food but the pizza and burgers which are open till wee hours of the morning on the Caribbean cruises, both closed at 7pm...nothing for late night but buffet or room service. overall a wonderful cruise, very family oriented.

An enjoyable cruise throughout by JohnS43

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Mexico

The layout and ability to get around the ship was the best I've ever experienced. There was little if any waiting for elevators, the life boats didn't hang above an open deck, and the dining facilities and arrangements were superior. Exercise equipment was ample although crowded at times and the spa area well laid out as well. Numerous decks and levels for sunbathing and a number of pools to choose from.

So glad to be back with Princess by KenM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Mexico

We are so happy to be back with Princess after 2 horrible experiences with Celebrity (they definately do NOT treat you famously). Princess simply executes better. The ship was spotless, the crew worked well together and the service was excellent. Princess is absolutely correct when they advertise big ship features yet small ship feel. We did not even see one of the pools until the last day of the cruise. The decor is tasteful and the layout is perfect. Our cabin was also great and space was good (remembering that space is at a premium on any ship). The balcony design is the best we have seen on any competitive line. Great privacy screening on both sides and very clean.

Most relaxing vacation by ElisaS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Mexico

We loved this trip. The ship was not too big and you did not feel overcrowded with passengers. The only thing with being a smaller ship was buffet did not offer as many choices (same thing everyday for breakfast on buffet so we did sit down dining the last few days) and with being a smaller ship the gym did not open until 7:00 which made it hard to get a workout in on days of excursions.

4x's the pleasure! by AnneG2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Mexico

We went as a family of 4 and had a fabulous time. We had 2 teenage girls along, so the smallness of the room was magnified by the hugeness of their mess. The steward did the best he could and always placed a chocolate heart on everyones pillow when he turned down the bed for sleep.

The ship is very clean. The dining staff anticipated our needs--they couldn't have done more. Our room steward kept our room clean and ready at all times without ever being observed.

Most enjoyable by WilliamW6

Sail date: /
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Mexico

Our former cruise with Princess was on the Sea Princess and it gave us a very mediocre experience, and we rated it not good value for money on that occasion. The standards of service were not consistent. By contrast, our cruise on the Diamond Princess was a delightful experience, and the service extended by staff at all levels was excellent. In terms of appointments, we were very pleased with our stateroom and the personal service given by our stateroom attendant. The choice of dining rooms offered by the optional dining program gave us great flexibility with meal times, especially on shore days. The entertainment was of a high standard, and the musical shows offered by the permanent cast were outstanding.

Great being on the ocean by WalterC

Ship and most staff were nice. Shopping service is a trap. Not in the passangers interest if you get my drift. These ratings are screened so I cannot really tell you the all on this. "Juiced In" staff.

The perfect proposal by SeanS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Mexico

This was my first cruise, and my now fiance's second. It was wonderful. We did the early check-in and boarding the ship took about 30 minutes. Upon arriving, one of our bags was already by our room with our second arriving shortly after departure. What did we do first, the food!!! Some of the best hotdogs, hamburgers and pizza of my life. Next we went to the fabulous spa and confirmed our appointment for the couples massage. Also we purchased the week long ultimate couples package for the sanctuary. It is a must. To read more just see the rest of our review. The best part had to be the second formal night, when they did the champagne fountain, I grabbed the hand of my current girlfriend and two glasses of champagne and led her out to the clear deck outside. I sat her down on the deck chair and confessed my love for her and asked her to marry me. We went back in engaged.
