For our 30th Anniversary we, and two other couples, took the Dawn Princess cruise from Tahiti to Hawaii. It is too bad I could only give this cruise 5 stars! We had been on Tahiti for two days when we boarded the Dawn. Embarkation was up to the standard we have come to expect from Princess. From our arrival at the dock to our stateroom took at most ten minutes. We had filled out all our paperwork before leaving home, so we were prepared. The Ship - We sailed on the Dawn her first year in service, and we were looking forward to seeing her again. We were not disappointed. The ship has been well maintained. It is stylish, yet functional. It is easy to get around, and even with 1,987 passengers we never felt crowded.Dining - We opted for Personal Choice dining, and were very pleased with the new program. With three couples, we were not always able to go to dinner at the same time everyday. Personal Choice let us arrive at the dining room whenever we wanted and get a table for our group. Afternoon tea was enjoyable, and the eating choices outside the main dining rooms were great. Hamburger grill, pizzeria, steaks, buffet, room service, all added to our enjoyment.Entertainment - As always, Princess offers a wide variety of entertainment choices. The stage shows were first rate. Movies were new (or fairly new). We enjoyed the Lido Deck programs, as well as the Karaoke, lectures, and cultural shows. Our group took part in the trivia contests, and even won twice.Service - The staff and crew of the Dawn did a great job. They were always friendly and courteous. There were ample opportunities for professional quality photos, and the photo development service was fast and reasonably priced. The cruise director was a consumate professional, and very entertaining.Excursions - We recommend these only for people who have not been to a port on the cruise. They are rather expensive, and if you have a problem with one, as we did on Bora Bora, there is very little recourse through Princess. This is not to say we didn't have any quality excursions. The snorkeling on Bora Bora was fabulous. The tour of Moorea was very good, too.All in all, this was the adventure we had been planning for over a year. We had a great time, and we attribute much of our enjoyment to being on the Dawn Princess. We highly recommend it to anyone wanting to cruise.
