Sail Date: May 01, 2008 Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Family (older children) Reviewed: 9 years ago
We recently sailed with Princess for our third time. This was our first time on the Dawn Princess. The embarkarcation and disembarkation have improved immensely. They can really get you in and out quickly.
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food on the buffet and in the diningrooms was adequate. Not that great, but not terrible either. The absolute best food on the ship was in the Pizzeria. We ate there for lunch quite a bit, it was excellent.

The shows were excellent. The performers were very good.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Many of the staff were great, more were good than bad. They made a mistake on our billing and it took 4 calls, 2 trips to the Purser's desk, and escalating it twice to maybe get it straightened out. We still don't know. The wait staff we had was great, though the Head water was not friendly and acted as though we were bothering him when we told him how great our servers were. Puzzling.

The rooms on the ship are very small. The smallest in their fleet from what I was told.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
We had a balcony stateroom that was extremely small. The mattress sagged badly even though they said they were changing them out which they had been doing since 2006 and apparently haven't completed yet. The television was approximately a 18", it was very small. You had to concentrate to see it from the bed, it was down low. Very little closet space and a smaller safe than on the Diamond Princess.
Pros: Wait staff, Pizzeria, emarking and disembarking
Cons: Beds with sagging mattresses, problems with billing, small rooms, room attendant, excursions
