Review summary

Our first Crystal, though have been on 35 cruises. They do many things well - clean ship, great staff, great service, very good food, several dining venues, excellent entertainment. What they can improve on is more menu options in main dining room, better fitness center (get rid of high tech machines for more practical ones like a cable machine), and it's time to build a new ship with bigger rooms. The Deluxe Verandah is just too small for a long trip. And the increase in price for a penthouse wasn't worth it.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
I'm sure it's not normal, but the covid testing process made embarkation long and confusing.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Several venues to choose from. Not a 5 because the menus were kind of limited.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not nearly as many activities as Regent, e.g., rarely had trivia, never had a name that tune, not much in the way of deck challenges. Lots of things to do solo, but not in groups or competition.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Production shows were very good - staging, costuming, choreography, etc. Lead female vocalist was excellent. Headliners were very good. Musicians everywhere - on deck, in the lounges, in the casino (really!). They were good and almost always somewhere.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The best thing of this cruise was the staff. They were pleasant, friendly, helpful. This applies to every position - cabin stewardess, bar staff, wait staff, excursion staff, reception. Virtually everyone seemed pleased to see you and eager to help. And it was nice to see a well rounded demographic - all continents, both genders, varying ages, etc.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Clean and well maintained. Easy to get around. Lots of different venues.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Clean and well laid out. But it's just too small. It was fine for 7-days, but no way I could be in that level of room for an extended trip. No walk in closet. Barely enough space to get around bed. Bathroom was ok. Narrow entry way.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
You have the wrong ports for my cruise. It was bahamas. And I wouldn't rate them highly other than Great Exuma - swim with pigs and trip to beach sailing across the beautiful waters was a 5. Rest of stops were blah.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
I liked that they didn't rush us off ship, but the delay in disembarking would have been problematic for anyone with early flights.
