Review summary

This was our first cruise, and we are so glad we chose Princess! It was just the right amount of fun while still being relaxing. We had such a good experience, and are already planning our next cruise!

Embarkation

We weren’t scheduled to board until 2:00, but we arrived at about 11:00, and were allowed to board early. It went so quickly, and we were on the ship right around 12:00.

Food and Dining

The Crown Grill was amazing. One of the best meals I have ever had. The food was incredible, and the service was great. Highly recommend! The main dining rooms were very good. Friendly servers, and the food ranged from good to wonderful. The desserts were especially tasty. The buffets were good, though obviously not as good as the main dining rooms or specialty restaurants. They always had a wide selection, and most of the food offered was really good. There were only a couple of things I didn’t like, including the coffee, but overall it was good. Sabatinis was the only disappointing meal we had the whole trip. The atmosphere and servers were wonderful, but the food was just ok. I think we would have enjoyed it more if the Crown Grill hadn’t set such a high standard. Overall, almost everything we ate onboard was very good. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food.

Onboard Activities

The pools were always too crowded, which is to be expected when the ship is full. The hot tubs were usually empty at night, which is when we took advantage of them. The sports deck was usually empty, so it became one of our favorite spots to walk around and take in the views.

Entertainment

We loved the stage shows, especially the Comedian and the Magician.

Service and Staff

Literally every single person who worked on the ship was friendly, upbeat, and attentive. Not one bad experience with any of the staff.

Ship Quality

The ship was very clean. A tad worn in some places, but it never bothered us. Would definitely cruise on this ship again!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5

The size was perfect for the 2 of us. If we were cruising with our kids, we would definitely get a larger room. It was clean the whole time. Our room Steward, Zaldy, was wonderful!

Ship tip

Definitely get a balcony room if you can. Take advantage of the live entertainment (get there early!). Don’t leave without eating at the Crown Grill. Have fun!!

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

We only embarked and disembarked here. No excursions, but the weather was perfect and the beach looked nice.

Willemstad, Curacao

Loved this port! We did an all-day excursion, which included a trip to the Hato Caves, a walking tour of downtown Willemstad, a trip to the Open Air Museum, trip to a natural park, a stop at the beach for a photo op, and a surprise stop to see flamingos at the salt pans. We got back to the ship with enough time leftover to walk down to the little shops set up by the pier to do some souvenir shopping.

Oranjestad, Aruba

The weather was beautiful. No excursion, but we walked into downtown to do some shopping and explore a bit. Beautiful island, but didn’t compare to Curaçao and Bonaire.

Bonaire, Netherlands Special Municipality

Amazing. My favorite port, hands down. The water was so clear, we could literally see fish swimming from up on the 17th deck of the ship. We walked around, did some shopping, and just spent the rest of the day walking along the water looking at the fish and corals. Perfect weather, friendly people. Next time, we will definitely take a water taxi to Klein Bonaire and do some snorkeling. I can’t say enough about this place, we just loved it.

Disembarkation

We did express walk-off, which went very smoothly. We docked at 7AM, and were off the ship and driving by 8AM. The elevators are packed, and we ended up carrying our luggage down 8 flights of stairs, so keep that in mind if you decide to do the express walk-off.
