Wouldn't cruise this line again

Beautiful ship. Dining staff was more interested in 'upselling' than just providing service - sometimes coming back multiple times trying to 'sell' wine after being told (politely) no thanks. Took 3 days to get the room safe fixed - staff management doesn't listen. Photography staff was obnoxious ("You can't take pictures in the atrium - you have to use our (Princess) photographers in this area"). Little things that a 'clued in' hotel manager would never have allowed. Luggage arrived late & soaked - as if it had fallen in the water upon loading - not even any apology.

Pros: Ship was beautiful; specialty restaraunts were wonderful

Cons: serious service issues; non-premium restaraunts weren't in the same class w/Holland (on which we've been twice); ship photographers were obnoxious/staff not empowered to make any decisions

Recommends Crown Princess? No.

Ship Quality
Beautiful, clean; layout/signage/mapping not very well designed or 'user-friendly'.
Food and Dining
Specialty restaraunts were outstanding; non-speecialty were OK, but nothing too memorable. Dining was occasionally detracted from due to relentless 'upselling' by staff - more interested in 'selling extras' than providing basic service.
Cabin / Stateroom
Safe was broken upon arrival - the fix was simple enough, but it took call after call & 3 days to get what should have been a 'single call & imediate fix' resolution; what should have been a simple fix turned into a battle w/disinterested management & staff who were apologetic but seemed to feel powerless to get anything done. Otherwise, very comfortable & clean. Housekeeping staff very pleasant/friendly.
Service and Staff
The opposite of 'going above & beyond'; It took a unfortunate scene at the main desk to see asnyone above the desk clerk rank - seeing a manager was like mission impossible, for which I don't fault the front-line staff, but the ship's hotel management, who clearly didn't want to be disturbed at any cost. Left a totally negative impression. Get rid of the entire photographer staff - obnoxious & pushy.
Better than other lines I've been on.
