Crown Princess Cruise Review to Caribbean - Southern
Ship: Crown Princess
Cabin Type: Balcony
Traveled As: Couple
Reviewed: 7 years ago
Review SummaryShip was very new and clean, the ships layout was typical, staff was all friendly and helpful.
Movies under the stars was an experience that everyone should have, new movies and popcorn at night.
Excellent size balconies expecially on caribe deck, thanks to the lady on the phone for the advice on the largest rooms in catagory.
As for the food, all i can say is the average weight gain in one week was ten pounds per person, the buffets where excellent, as for anytime dinning i would still prefer the early fixed dining which is available to be able to have the same wait staff, as for the crown grill they don't serve crab leg and porter house was poor, did not find it worth the cover of 25 per person, did not get a chance to try the italian restaurant due to others saying it was poor as well, i recommend staying with the dinning room, buffet, pizza, and room service.
We began our thip out of San Juan, we flew in late at night the day before with our own arranged flights, we stayed at the hotel in the airport, it was nice to grab our bag and walk a few feet to get to our hotel and crash for the night, we got up the next day checked out and got a cab that took us for a drive through old San Juan and to the ship.
The ports where excellent
The first was Barbados- the beaches here are in my opinion some of the best in the world, we also did the ocean park aquarium which i did not care for much due to it being outdoor with little shade and displays where not spectacular.
Second was St.Lucia- beaches where not as great but the landscape was like none seen before the twin pitons, drive in volcano and magnificent scenery.
Third was Antiga- this was one of my favourite ports the people there treated us like gold, tourism is thier main industry and i felt safe walking around there, also filled with naval history, no stop is complete there without seeing shirley heights with the view of english harbour and nelsons dockyard.
Fourth was Tortola- very small population we seen the baths which where nice for the beaches, the local souveniers where very cheap here for shirts and hats, this port needs some tourism money to expand but people where very friendly.
Fifth was St.Thomas- I think this is a favourite with many people, we went on a tour to magen bay, I can tell you it stands up to saying it is in the top ten in the world, also felt very safe in thier down town shopping area, soveniers are very cheap here but stay out of the jewelery stores because you will spend money, this island is one of the best at the tourism market it makes you feel welcome.
Due to this ship and the itinerary we had an excellent time with our friends and would recommend this cruise to anyone that believes a cruise is what you make it.
Pros: ship was excellent, large balcony's on caribe deck, movies under stars was excellent,
Cons: drink of the day was lacking in size and strenght, recommend drinking long islands
