Unexpected by JoanC2

Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a last minute cruise for us on a lines not well known in our area. What a pleasant surprise. From the minute we stepped into our varrandah cabin, we knew we were on a clean ship. The bath was spotless, & we really liked the counter space with 3 glass shelves on each side. You don't find this much area in most ships. The decor throughout the ship was refreshing & exciting. Entertainment in the lounges ranged from country western to classical. Something for everyone. This ship had the friendliest casino staff we've been associated with in the five cruises taken within this last year. The most amazing thing was the staff. This being an Italian line, there were many languages on board from English,& including German, Dutch, Italian, French & probably a lot more that I couldn't pick up. And never did I see any passenger have trouble communicating with staff. They were just outstanding. We enjoyed out meals, but found them to be on the bland side, not exciting to the taste buds. Would also like to see more seafood offered. We would also like to see more diagrams of the ship's decks, especially around the elevators. The only info given to us was on a small packet that was terribly hard to read. Maybe something in each stateroon would be helpful. These are small suggestions. I think you will be pleasantly surprised when sailing on The Mediterranea, as we were.

the ship was beautiful and so clean, the buffet food very good, we had a large balcony room two large closets, clean towels about 3 times a day, lots of sun loungers the ship never felt crowded, and I think it was full the week we sailed, but it never felt crowded, embarkation and dis embarkaton was quite fast, I was expecting to be slow from previous reviews i've read, 24hour coffee was great.

The Best Cruise Ever!! by VictoriaT3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my eighth cruise with Costa and the best one. I have been on 20 cruises and this one had the best room and service ever. Our cabin steward Danina and butler Carla were a joy. They always had smiles and did a great job. Our suite had granite counter tops, a jacuzzi tub, double sinks, murano lamps and a private dressing room. We like to just relax on our cruises and not get all dressed up for dinner, so it was perfect that our butler would bring the menu from the main dining room and we would order whatever we wanted and it would be served in our cabin, complete with tablecloth, silver and great service. I went through major withdrawal once we got home. I had to get my own meals. The ship was kept immaculate and as it was just put into service in 2003, it showed very little signs of wear. We very seldom heard our neighbors or noise in the hall. My only complaint would be the cigarette smoke. Europeans seem to smoke a lot more than Americans, so we had to deal with that more than some other ships. It only took about ten minutes to get on the ship and when it came time to disembark, we were off the ship, had our luggage and arrived at the airport in about 17 minutes! A world record! Of course I loved the casino as I won money on the roulette table. All the staff were courteous and helpful. This was a great way to spend Valentine's week.

The Costa Mediterranea is a beautful ship. It was spotless. This was our first cruise on Costa and we would certsainly go on another Costa cruise. Stoping at Catalina Island in the Dominican Republic was a real treat.

logistic disaster by JanetF4

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The boat is beautiful, the food is average , our cabin steward was superb, disembark and embarkation were a nightmare and in one case passengers were put at risk on a flat boat tender after an excursion. Concerns expressed to customer service staff were met with stony silence.

We were on the Costa Mediterranea., Fabulous ship. One of the most beautiful my mom, who has cruised over 20 times, has seen. We loved the kid's club. Great activities and great ending night. They had a terrific talent show for the parents. The food was excellent. We loved having pasta with dinner every night. We loved the ports of call also. We were able to go swimmimg wiht the sting rays and climb Dunn's River Falls. What a spectacular experience!!!!

The ship is beautiful and immaculate. The staff was friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs. The food was good and we enjoyed every meal. My teens loved the pizza! The toga night was loads of fun and the talent show was very enjoyable. The ports of call were great. Enjoyed the cruise so much we are going back this Dec. for the eastern itinerary and taking extended family along.

Never again! by LisaB29

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We've taken several cruises, and this was my third on Costa, although the previous two were over 15 years prior. We will not choose Costa again. At least until we're really, really old. We prefer higher quality food, service and entertainment than what we experienced on the Mediterranea. Even the excursions offered limited choices. Two of the excursions I had pre-booked prior to sailing were cancelled due to lack of participation, and that was a first for me. It was, overall, a terrible experience, on our 25th wedding anniversary.

Nice Thanksgiving Cruise - Interesting Take on Turkey by cruisellama

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Overall a good cruise. MDR did a great job entertaining. Hosted a toga party on the last night and formal nights were fairly respected by the passengers. Food quality was fairly high - Mediterranean flare. Superb cruise director.
