We have found these transitional cruises an outstanding value and this Zeneth cruise was exactly that. We favor longer cruises (14 days or longer), but most cruise lines offering those itineraries charge significantly more per day than the shorter (7 day) cruises. So these transition cruises give us the opportunity to keep costs down Other than the condition of the ship and poor weather for most of the cruise, the excellent food, entertainment, cruise staff, and 5-star service outweighed the negatives sufficiently to still rate this cruise, overall as excellent.
Food and Dining

A very diverse menu with some items offered daily where other cruise lines only offer them once per cruise. Presentation was exceptional. Curiously, however, red meats were not served more rare than medium well. Alledgedly it was related to an outbreak of flu, on board, and Corporate guidelines to stem the spread of the flu - I have no idea how a well done prime rib curbs the spread of a virus.

The dancers and singers were excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed all the shows. The guest entertainers were also excellent. All of the entertainment was targeted at my age group, so younger (under 55) might not agree with my assessment- but I don't care because I am over 55.
Service and Staff

It would be very hard to find a single fault with any of the staff. They were all excellent, friendly (would sit down and talk if not off to another event), supportive, and delt with offensive passenger behavior very well.

It has been too long since the Zeneth was last refurbished. The carpets needed replacing, having been patched a few too many times, broken fixtures, and out of date staterooms. The public rooms were very clean, however, all the seating is a little too low so people over six feet tall can not sit very comfortably. It was fairly easy to move about the ship (as long as one remembered that the central elevator did not go all the way to the top decks.
Cabin / Stateroom

Spacious with adequate storage for two for longer cruises. Unfortunately we took a third person (our son) with us and that made it a bit crowded. Sparcely appointed, but adequate for a place to sleep and dress for the next shipboard event. The matresses need replacement and the beds should be high enough off the floor to provide a place to store luggage. The shower head was excellent - I was tempted to remove it and take it home. There were other annoyances, but these relate directly to the need to do a stem to stern refurbish. An upgraded audio-video system with Plasma TVs would be nice.
Pros: Superlative service, top notch entertainment, and an outstanding staff
