A great experience

My wife and I had not been to the Caribbean before\, and we decided that rather than choose a single island we would take a cruise to sample multiple locations. This Celebrity cruise seemed to fit our wishes exactly\, and we were definitely satisfied with the choice. Sailing primarily at night and being in port each day allowed us to experience the differences in the islands (at least as much as you can do in a single day). We are not really \"ship\" people\, so the multiple ports and breadth of shore excursion possibilities were important to us. We were not disappointed.

Pros: Stateroom\, food\, entertainment\, service.

Cons: The sea day was a little short on activities that interested us.

Recommends Celebrity Summit? Yes!

Ship Quality
The Summit is not the newest ship on the water\, but it appeared to be well maintained and the public areas were spotless. Our cruise was either at or near capacity (~2100 passengers)\, but we rarely felt crowded. We tended to use the stairs more than the elevators\, but the wait time for the lifts was generally short except for the the predictable high-use times (late afternoon re-boarding).
Food and Dining
We ate breakfast in the Ocean View Cafe each morning. There was a broad range of food choices\, and the quality was very good. Most days we were off the boat during lunch time so I can't speak to the quality of food at that meal. The dinner menu at the Cosmopolitan Restaurant had ~3 appetizer\, ~3 salad\, and 5-6 entree choices created specifically for that day\, along with a few similar choices available any day. Overall the food was very good to excellent\, although I'd recommend skipping the Caribbean lobster. Our stateroom class was not eligible to eat in Blu\, and we didn't try the Normandie\, but we did eat one dinner at Qsine. The food was interesting\, plentiful\, and entertaining. We dined with another couple which allowed us to sample more dishes\, and it was definitely worth the extra fee.
Cabin / Stateroom
We opted for a veranda stateroom (starboard side)\, which turned out to be the right choice for us. Since we had the late dining time we were able to relax on our balcony and watch the sunset during the southbound part of the trip. This quiet time was the perfect break after a day of activities on shore and before diving into the evening's dining and entertainment. The room was compact of course\, but it was clean\, well equipped\, and had ample closet and drawer space. The linens included beach towels for taking onshore that were replaced each day if used.
Service and Staff
Every staff member with whom we interacted was pleasant\, cheerful\, and helpful. Excellent all around.
Entertainment
The musical acts were very good\, with the singing and dancing troupe both talented and entertaining. The individual acts (acoustic guitar\, piano player) were very good too\, as were the small ensembles. We heard every musical entertainer in the different venues and were never disappointed. We didn't take part in some of the other evening or late night activities (karaoke\, dance competition\, etc.) so I can't speak to those. With the exception of the captain's presentation on navigation\, we were not interested in any of the daytime classes.
