Expensive, Sloppy Cruising

Sail Date: January 01, 2012

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Large Group

Room Type: Suite

The list is so long, I will provide a representative synopsis:
1. "missing" personal property after ship's security finally released a piece of luggage;
2. brown water';
3. toilets that flushed periodically;
4. "packages" charged to your bill that somehow never got credited properly;
5. a staff of many "confused" people; (all nice however)
6. dining room service and food could make one want to fast;
7. dining room wine "specialist" who informed our table that the wines from South Africa were the same as the wines of Burgundy;
8. staff worked hard not to engage guests in the cafeteria-style dining areas. (pretty much get your own everything);
9. outside patio filthy and was never cleaned during the entire trip;
10. Every issue brought to Guest Services attention got a "we will get back to you" and of course they never did. Even after 2nd and 3rd calls, there was still no meaningful response.
11. Bathtubes located on the suite patios are in full view of the above decks, and really entertained the other passengers. (really bad news)

Pros: specialty restaurants

Cons: just about everything else

Recommends Celebrity Summit? No.

Service and Staff
The majority were poor performing. Many seemed to be lost or not understand their jobs. There was a group which stood-out who were excellent. We were told by one young woman that she was the "senior" of her group. She had been assigned to the Summit for a month and a half.
Cabin / Stateroom
Ship Quality
This was our 23rd cruise. We have enjoyed many lines such as Seabourn, Crystal, Royal Caribbean, etc. This was the absolute bottom of the barrel trip.
Food and Dining
regular dining...bad. Speciality restaurants....very good.
