Celebrity Summit

7 Night Southern Caribbean (San Juan Roundtrip)

Sail date: November 06, 2010

Ship: Celebrity Summit

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 14 years ago

Review summary

We were upgraded to a Concierge Balcony room with all the daily amenities including a free bottle of bubbles upon boarding ship. The food was very good, the entertainment better than most and the service up to high standards normally experienced on Celebrity ships.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food quality was very good, but the novelity items seem to be missing from past experiences. Believe this has to do with the economy (been cruising for 16 years and paying less now than in 1994 for balcony room - something has to change to keep the trip costs down)

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The comedian was extremely funny, the singer good and the Vegas varities shows were above average.

Service and Staff

top level

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Summit really suited our size and accessibility requirements. No food/tour lines, no problems obtaining pool chairs or theater seating. Love the smaller size ships (approx 2400 passengers) compared to the larger ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were upgraded from a Guaranted room to a "top level" balcony stateroom with all the amentities. Peter, our attendant, was always there when we need something but was never underfoot - perfect situation. The flowers, fresh fruit and snacks delivered to our room daily was a pleasant addition to our trip.

Ports of call

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
I generally love St Thomas, but this trip we encountered rain the whole day...We did visit St Johns, but could not enjoy the beach - hopefully next trip.

Castries, St. Lucia

3 out of 5
The hurricane hit this port prior to our visit and it showed it. The two hour tour we took did not suit my interest. Did not encounter any real historic sites of interest. The surf on the beach was a little rough

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
Best part of the trip. The beach was outstanding - clear, blue water, no surf, nice accommodations (beach chairs/refreshments and plenty of water sports - with very few pan handlers troubling you.
Don't Miss: highly recommend taking a jet ski ride

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
The shopping is always good here.

Pros: The beach and jet ski ride in Barbados

Cons: Rain at the first two ports of call
