Solstice April 10 2011 by CynthiaD2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This is my second time on the Celebrity Solstice, and I would cruise again on this gorgeous ship. It is beautiful, clean, fun, easy to navigate, and the crew was professional. The food is awesome, and service is top shelf. Celebrity has hit a home run with its line of Solstice class ships. There were many seniors on this cruise, and most of the entertainment shuts down around 11 PM to midnight, but there were many activities during the day and evening. I love the Persian Garden and relaxation room - a great place to get away from it all. I did see honeymooners, and families with younger children, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. This is definitely a classy cruise - with wine tastings, gourment food demonstrations, informative lectures, and broadway style shows, but you can still dance the night away in the disco, sing karaoke in the lovely sky lounge, watch a movie, catch a late night comedy show, or spend time in the casino.

A Beautiful Trip by DeborahL5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The space on this ship has been utilized fully, both in the public areas and in the staterooms. Plenty of space to put everything away and never problem finding seating around whatever venue. The entertainment was wonderful-great orchestras and the service impeccable. I don't know however, how you could possibly make coffee as bad as we had every morning. My husband drinks decaf and poured in 2/3 hot water to 1/3 coffee to make it palatable. The regular wasn't quite that bad but almost and I like strong coffee. This cruise attracted a much older passenger, many in wheel chairs. We are in our early 60s and I felt like a coed. It wasn't a problem but young families might not enjoy it so much.

It was a nice cruise by FranB

Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The adult pool area is beautiful. We have been on two other Celebrity cruises and this one turned out to be our least favorite. The previous cruises were wonderful. The service in all areas were great, the food and dining selections better. The shows on this cruise were disappointing except for the last one on the ship which was very good. There were no after or before show entertainment in "Michaels Club" like there was on the Constellation. We always looked forward to stopping in for a drink and there and be truly entertained. The Solstice is beautiful although a little too modern for my taste. Our last cruise (Panama Canal) was on the Constellation, beautiful ship as well and a ltitle warmer atmosphere.

Great Ship and our best Cruise yet! by BillS4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall, this is a very nice ship. Not as large as the newest ones, but that is fine. We go on these trips to get away from people :). For some reason we were upgrade to a Royal Suite. We never found out why, but who cares--it was great! The food on Celebrity is the best, because we've been on most the other cruise lines. Older crowd on this ship, so it was nice and quite :) Overall great Cruise!

Fabulous cruise! by KarenH6

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I traveled with my daughter and we had a wonderful time. The time flew by. The size of the ship was just right. At no time did it seem crowded. There was always something interesting to do. The cruise director planned excellent entertainment. The food was excellent. The quality, the presentation were spectacular. High tea was lovely and the specialty dining room experience in Murano was well worth it. The cruise line had considered the interests of all ages on the boat and there was always something for every one. The music was great - live entertainment - Addagio strings, classical guitarist, acapela group, shows etc.!!

A cruise to avoid ! by WalterH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Start to finish, poor experience. Had to wait over an hour to board in terminal. No life to ship. Elevator music at poolside. Had 45 min / day single man with steel drum playing with taped back up music! The one live band had blown speakers and sounded horrible. There were 4-6 patrons in nightclub. Lots of motorized wheelchair patrons. Average age was in the 60's. Few children, but poolside games all catered to them. No reggie music at pool and fun. No midnight buffet. Halls were dead after 10pm. Food at buffet closed down except fruit, few pastries and pizza after 9pm. String quartet in courtyard at night. No festival atmosphere. Food was average. When we left the ship it was nauseating. All security folks had masks on as it smelled like human waste and vomit. Not exactly what you need when leaving a ship. I think it was next to the tanker to remove waste etc.. not sure. BUT, for what the cruise line charges and for what I saw, I would NOT recommend this ship to anyone. Skip over Celebrity cruise line.

Best Cruise Ship Ever by Evelyn60085523

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We recently sailed on Celebrity Solstice and found it to be very elegant. The food in the main dining room was very well presented and delicious. The food in the buffet was excellent and there were so very many choices. This was our 27th cruise and we would have to say that it was the best. The shows were phenomenal. There were plenty of activities to keep everyone busy.

Cruise was alright..... by Amber

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was beautiful! However, I feel it was more for the 50+ age group, as a young cruiser I didn't find much to do that was very entertaining I spent some time on the VERY crowded pool decks and my fiance spent time in the casino for entertainment.

Celebrity Solstice-a cruise for seniors by DebM5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Although the ship was clean, the noro virus from the cruise the week before delayed our departure and required constant hand sanitizing. It was alarming to see men in hazmats suits roping off and sanitizing areas in the buffet area. Also, since there was very little to do on ship, everyone had to go to the pool area which was small and required several trips around the boat just to find a place to sit. This boat was geared for seniors who just wanted to go sit and watch glass blowing seminars, cooking seminars, etc. We did attend one of the "how to get a flat stomach" seminars only to find it was an effort to sell your product. We tried to find activities in the evening, after dinner. Although the cruise line staff of 20 somethings were enjoying hip hop, that venue is hardly geared to the demographic of the cruisers. While we did enjoy karaoke the last night, it was cut short at midnight. The ship was boring and I will not be cruisng Celebrity in the future.

Constant Cruiser by SueC2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Very contemporary decor. Long walk to get any kind of a snack after the main show. Other than cocktail service, very difficult to get assistance with anything. Many amenities we have been used to, and looked forward to, were eliminated. Aside from the wonderful entertainers, the cruise and ship were a huge disappointment.
