Celebrity Soltisce by MargaritaS2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The service overall was very good unfortunately the cruise lines has made cuts that are very obvious. For example, before the cuts shuttles were provided at ports of call; now you have to pay for them, food quality has diminished and the entertainment has really been downgraded

Fabulous Cruise! by MaryJ4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Rated the best large ship for a reason.... it is! We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise, food, activities and excursions. The ports were all fabulous other than the port of Naples....however we were book on a shore excursion to Sorrento which picked up from this port and was wonderful. I see the cruise line is making some port changes coming up and includes Bari Italy, which I would have enjoyed seeing as my son in laws family originated from this city. Celebrity Solstice is a gem. The staff so welcoming and accommidating, the food, great quality and the excursions really a good value and out of the way villas arranged to show us their culture, olive oil and wine making production. Montenegro, and Croatia are beautiful as are Italy and France. I would highly recommend. We celebrated our 32 on the cruise and so enjoyed the entire adventure!

This ship is awesome by JerryR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The Celebrity Solstice is a great ship. Every thing is very new, clean and spacious. This was our first cruise and we were fortnant to be directed to this cruise line. Every night you had the option of main dinning or if running late the buffet lounge. The ship had plenty of things to do on board. Every night they had entertainment in the theater or casino. There was always live music on the ship either out by the pools or down near the casino. Plenty of lounges for beverages of all type. The staff goes out of there way to make you feel welcome. The ship also has three specialty resteraunts if you prefer something different. Every room had a veranda which was a big plus.

A Great Experience by MonicaT2

The ship was clean. Our stateroom attendants were wonderful. The food was great overall, but the desserts were not good. The bartendar/waitress at the Oceanview Bar rocked!

Varied and exciting cruise! by LisaT4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The ship was well-appointed with a good library and great rooms. Our bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever experienced on a cruise. The cabin stewards were outstanding as were the food service staff. The food was varied and wonderful and included Indian and Thai food. There were ample vegetarian options for us. Our only quibbles were the shore excursions which weren't that great--and the organization of them could be improved. Due to our personal preference, we didn't care for the "medley" style shows but we loved the illusionist and the dancers. We didn't use many of the amenities (except the fitness center which was good) because we preferred to read on our balcony a lot of the time we weren't in port.

Not a great time on the Solstice by Kay

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

If you expect a great Celebrity experience do not book on this ship and I will never buy another vacation from Cruises. The Solstice is a beautiful ship, very clean and has a very nice front line staff but that is about it. The Concierge Class staterooms are nice and spacious but the beds and bedding is below average. Concierge Class is also considered lower class and you have no options unless you are willing to pay for them. If you do not book Aqua Class (this would have been our upgrade but the ship was sold out) or above prepare for mediocre to poor food quality, limited access to the Spa areas and being treated like a member of the herd by management. The ship closes many venues early, the pool decks were being power washed 2 hours before the pool closed at 10pm, the buffet puts out very limited food after 9:30pm until 1am, room service is awful and Casual dining options on level 5 which are open until midnight are an extra charge. Even the casino and the disco closed early if there were not enough bodies in the room. If you are under 30 or like to have fun at night this is not the cruise for you. The words Up Charge is all you will know by the end of this cruise if you want anything that resembles the quality of the Celebrity of the past. The ports were interesting but many were so far from the areas of interest that you had to be adventurous by risking a do it yourself or pay outrageous prices for their tours. The shore excursions were a total joke. They were very over-priced and always trying to sell you something, literally holding you hostage in shopping areas, rug demonstrations, or leaving you off far from the ship so you had to make your own way back. I expected them to try to sell me a timeshare at any moment. Do yourself a favor and book your tours or arrange a car service for the day on your own. We finally logged a complaint on day 4. The Restaurant Manager insulted me when we asked to change venues but assured me our problems would be fixed. They were not and the bad experiences continued. The Guest Services Manager finally contacted me on day 11 only to listen to me at the last minute. If the Captains Club Manager, had not stepped in 4 days before the cruise ended we would have been absolutely miserable. We were not the only passengers with complaints. The majority of the people we met had similar or worse problems but some guests were happy. We met some great people on the Solstice. The staff was one of the best I have every seen, but Management team (other than the Captains Club) and Corporate policies need vast improvement. Having cruised on Celebrity and other cruise lines before I would have to say this is the worst experience I have had or maybe we have just been very lucky in the past. As for CRUISES, they do not honor their price match promise, they will manipulate your reservation so they do not have to (Hint: get a Class Type Guarantee, which we did, BUT do not allow them to book you into a cabin) and they do not correct their own mistakes. At the time of booking they informed us we had 7 free hotel nights. They send you the voucher 3 weeks before your trip and then with only an apology gave us 3 nights worth of credit instead of the 7 nights we were promised, to bid blindly on a hotel. This left us to scramble at the last minute to pay for 4 nights on our own.

Beautiful Ship! Wonderful Food! Nice size cabins. Great entertainment! Disappointed with Guest Relations desk service. Everyone else on the ship was wonderfully freindly. Really glad we opted for Open Seating for dinner. We booked all of our tours as independant Private Tours. THANK GOD we did!!! Thje ship`s tours are like cattle cars.

Seeing is believing, must take this cruise to believe how well the ship is finished and operated. Five star is not enough to rate this experience.

A Great Crossing by LarryR4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Transatlantic

The solstice class, and the Soltice in particular is a wonderful cruise vehicle. The layout is very similar to a luxury resort with the public areas concentrated away from the sleeping rooms creating a feeling of privacy not always found on other ships. The food was excellent, but the genuinely caring attitude of the service staff is outstanding. It is hard to quantify, but there is a genuine difference between the spirit of the staff on this Celebrity cruise as compared to other lines. The ship is graciously appointed and reflects a casual elegance that is appreciated by this veteran cruiser.

A beautiful cruise by JohnS66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 5th cruise with Celebrity. We found the Solstice to be not too big and not too small. Our room was spacious and clean. This was our first time with a veranda and we especially enjoyed having our morning coffee out there. With over 20 cruises behind us we think Celebrity has the best food especially their pastries and breads. We enjoyed breakfast & lunch at the Oceanview Cafe and dinner in the dinning room. We were also impressed to see that the dress code was enforced in thedinning room. All the staff was ready and willing to serve and help you throughout the ship.

Great wheelchair access! by CarlaG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Easy to get around, even with a wheelchair. The stateroom for wheelchair accessibility was spacious, plenty of elevators. Carpeted areas were difficult for manual chair bcs they were cushy, but help all around if you really need it. Food was great! Service great! Beverage package worth it if you are having liquor >5 a day + soft drinks and water. Bars and staff wonderful. Need I mention sunrises and sunsets? Shore excursions limited for wheelchair due to local places' inaccessibility, but on and off ship was made easy due to staff and security personnel. Overall: great, for our first ever cruise!
