Review summary

A successful cruise. Enjoyed the warmth of Hawaii weather and the 5 sea days to Vancouver. Met several nice people during the voyage. Always surprised how much some people pay for a cruise. A couple from Wales had paid 60% more for inferior accommodations.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Arrived @ noon and were onboard within 15 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main DR gets mixed marks. A few nights selections were terrific but most are just average. Tuscan Grill was terrific & was discounted 40%. Murano lunch menu was very limited but service was good. We avoid the buffet for food but use it to read.i the off hours.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Many shows are dancing, loud singing & similar. Only 2 of the 8 shows we saw were worth our time. The lounge near Murano was always very good. Atrium entertainment was mostly to loud and echoed into nearby venues making it difficult to converse.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room attendant was terrific as were our main dining room waiters. Table service at most other locations was slow because of short staffing. Personnel were all smiling & friendly except for the sommelier in the MDR.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was clean and attractive throughout. This 1,000+ foot ship has only 2 elevator banks instead of the 3 on Celebrity’s smaller ships which results in a lot of walking. The elevators were not controlled well and there were often long waits.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our concierge room is standard size but was laid out well. The bed was next to the balcony with sitting area & desk in the center. Storage space was excellent. Only negative is the bathroom shower. It’s a curved shower in the corner and is on the small side. Electrical outlets were adequate & there was space in the frig to store some of our stuff.

Ship tip

The Matre ‘d was not very effective in accommodating change requests in main dining room

Ports of call

Honolulu, Oahu Did not visit port

Our flight arrived in Honolulu midday and ship departed in the evening.

Hilo, Hawaii

5 out of 5
Ship was docked. Helicopter excursion was excellent.

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

3 out of 5
This was a tender port & Celebrity doesn’t use enough tenders and tries to fill them so there’s always a long wait. Hop-on Hop-off bus was poorly executed with few attractions.

Lahaina, Maui

5 out of 5
Again, a tender port with long waits at both departure & return. 2 day port call was nice. Independent excursion to Lanai was great. Heard from several others that ship excursions were disappointing.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia Did not visit port

We’re overnighting but had been to Vancouver several times before.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Arrived at designated location on ship but had to wait 45 to disembark. Grouped on level 4 forward but disembarkation was on level 5 and 3 of the 4 forward elevators were not operating so we had to carry our small bags up 1 flight of stairs.
