Review summary

The ship was clean. Our stateroom attendants were wonderful. The food was great overall, but the desserts were not good. The bartendar/waitress at the Oceanview Bar rocked!

Ports of call

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

1 out of 5
Completely unnecessary. Ephesus was okay, but the Turkish salesmen are horrible once you leave the ruins. They won't leave you alone. Our excursion was a half-day self-guided walk around Ephesus. However, at the end, the tour guide took us to a rug shop where we were taken upstairs to a room with 5 or 6 Turkish men who did a demonstration of the rug making and made a HUGE sales pitch. We felt trapped because they shut the door. Once we got out, we had to go through the jewelry shop downstairs where the salesmen there were hard to get away from also. We then had to walk through a "mall" area in order to get back to the ship. We did not sign-up for the rug presentation and were extremely disappointed in the experience. Don't waste your time in this port. We certainly will never return to Turkey.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

3 out of 5
Athens is a place everyone needs to go once in life. Seeing the Acropolis is a must, but be prepared for crowds. Athens itself is a dirty city that holds no real appeal.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
The only problem was not having enough time. There is so much to see in Rome. One day is never going to be enough.

Santorini, Greece

5 out of 5
Our favorite place.

Naples, Italy

Don't Miss: Pompeii

Mykonos, Greece

1 out of 5
Disappointing. Our excursion was cancelled because of the weather, so we decided to make the most of it and check-out the town on our own. We paid $10 each to take the shuttle from the ship to town. What a joke. The shuttle took us a few hundred yards and let us off on the "edge" of town. We walked forever and still did not get anywhere. There are few sidewalks and walking of the streets is suicidal. If you do not rent a vehicle, then you are out of luck. Mykononos may have a great nightlife, but it has none of the charm of Santorini. We got tired of dodging traffic and getting nowhere. Celebrity's "shuttle bus" was not worth the money. What a rip-off.

Valletta, Malta

5 out of 5
Beautiful island with friendly people.
Don't Miss: Blue Grotto

Pros: We loved being able to see so much of the world.

Cons: A couple of the ports were disappointing.
