Review summary

I thought the ship was beautiful. The pool area was small and somewhat crowded but I guess that is to be expected. We loved the pool bar and the people working there. I was amazed at how professional they were at making all kind of drinks. Very impressive. All the drinks were amazing and we had all different ones. We opted to pay the beverage package and overall we were very pleased. To have superb wine with each meal and drinks, including bottled water was so worth it. I do wish you had a different brand rather than Evian. That water actually makes you thirsty because of the mineral content. I liked the regular ship water that we were given with our meals. Even though we may have saved a little by not going with the packages, I loved not having to sign my name. I just gave them my room key and it was swiped. We would like to cruize on Celebrity again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was top notch and just the right amount for each entree. We really liked the buffet restaurant because it wasn't formal and you could help yourself with whatever you wanted. The curry was the best. The one evening we had the buffet with the ice sculptures, which was truly elegant. We did dine in the Tuscany restaurant and liked it very much. The service charge seemed a bit high. Very good quality of food. The lobster bisque was fishy but I don't remember anything else I didn't like. First time I tried frog legs and they were delicious. I did want optional dining times but that was not clear cut before the cruize. Also, wanted a large round table but that didn't happen either.

Entertainment

Never disappointed. The shows were first class each night and enough new activities that you didn't feel it was being repeated. The Captain had the best personality and was so funny with his comments. The singing and the bands superb.

Service and Staff

Very friendly and willing to help. I appreciated most all those attending the bars. They were great at making drinks. I love the variety. The only disappointment was the one bar that had all the natural and exotic drinks. They did not have Nightengale nectar which I wanted to sample. :(

Ship Quality

Certain times the elevators were very slow. I did like the layout of the ship. The decor was wonderful. I loved the solarium very much. That was so relaxing, then it was close to the pool area if I wanted more going on, I just went back to that area. I liked the very top floor where they had dancing. I loved the way the sitting area was. I am curious what it would be like to cruize on a slightly larger ship. The Soltice was smaller than I thought it would be, however, if a ship is too large that has some downsides as well.

Cabin / Stateroom

The decor was very nice. I loved the wide screen TV and how you could swivel it, if you were sitting on the couch or on the bed. Next time I think I would not want to be so close to the elevator. When they had bands and parties, the noise would be heard in our room. This was not every night though, so that was a good thing. We liked the balcony but it was rather small. I did like looking out because it kept you from feeling closed in and the view was wonderful.

Decided to do the glass bottom boat excursion with shopping. The boat trip out was nice and view the fish was ok. I guess I did picture way more colorful fish as I had seen in Hawaii. The real down side was, not bathrooms after the boat excursion. Then we get dropped off where a couple shops are, we all pile into this shop that we were told there was a restroom. Well, there was a very small one for both men and women and of course, a large line having to wait. This took up a lot of time so we couldn't really shop.

We didn't go to the most beautiful beach but from what I heard the second most beautiful "Saphire". Ended up not snorkeling but enjoyed relaxing and going in the water a little. Wish we could have taken in shopping with the beach.

We took the tour which included the old town and the new. I like the Ft. Moro which was interesting and the view was spectacular. The first stop should have been longer. Way too short. The Ft. stop could have been a little longer too. And, adding some shopping to make an additional hour, would make that tour worthwhile. The bus ride was very bumpy and the bus was old. That made me feel a little sick at my stomach.

Pros: The food was top notch and the service excellent. I loved being treated as if I was a celebrity. Everyone on the ship dressed very classy, and even more so on the two formal nights. I like that because it just adds to the elegance of it all. Also, the entertainment was first class.

Cons: Least favorite would have to be that the spa prices were very expensive. Even to use the steam room was $20 a day. Also trying to sell me the cream. The balcony was rather small. And the first night they had a party which we could hear loudly. Other than that, everything was enjoyable.
