Review summary

This was our first cruise experience, so we don't have anything to compare it to in order to give a rating of "the best." Having said that, we enjoyed our trip immensely and are looking forward to booking the next adventure on the high seas! We cannot say enough about the crew members who went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful vacation. The ship had so much to offer that we only wished we had more than 7 days to explore further.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
While we did not have an opportunity to attend any of the speciality restaurants, we were impressed by the variety of foods offered in the Oceanview Cafe, Mast Grill, and the Grand Epernay. We got to know several of the waiters and looked forward to seeing them daily. The only negative about the dining experience was during the breakfast rush in the Oceanview Cafe. If you happened to eat later (i.e.,after 9:45am/10am) it was challenging to locate seats. While the waiters quickly cleaned tables once previous occupants finished meals, the availability of tables were limited during this period. The earlier the better for a pleasant breakfast experience.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were entertaining with a talented group of performers. There were a number of options available from comedy shows, hot glass show, musicals, etc.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We cannot say enough positive things about the ship staff. Each day the crew went above and beyond to make our vacation memorable and pleasant. We were greeted with genuine smiles and such warmth by individuals from across the globe. We are actually missing our waiters and stateroom crew (Kurt, Gorhan, Nick, Zauldy, and Rodrico).

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was quite impressive with a library, spa, club, casino, and various bars and restaurants. Even during the busiest times, the public areas were well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The size of our stateroom exceeded our expectations. We opted for the balcony and are glad we did. We spent a great deal of time on the balcony simply gazing at the beautiful ocean. Our room was cleaned several times throughout the day and restocked with fresh towels. We never had to ask for anything as our stateroom staff seemed to know exactly what was needed and when.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
My husband and I both enjoyed the people and shopping experiences at Cozumel. We bought wonderful silver jewelry, lambskin leather goods, and ate a delicious restaurant. We felt so welcomed by the people of Cozumel and are looking forward to another trip to Mexico.
Don't Miss: Hire a taxi and go beyond the port. Great shopping and restaurants are just a few miles from the dock. Taxi ride is only $7.

George Town, Grand Cayman

1 out of 5
We were not impressed by Grand Cayman. It was loaded with tourists from both our ship and two ships from Carnival. The shops did not offer anything unique beyond the usual cheap souvenirs or overpriced jewelry stores. We were extremely disappointed and would not recommend this for indiviudals wanting to support local merchants while obtaining great gifts. Ironically, this port was heavily endorsed by the cruise ship's port and shopping director.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
Roatan was great! Recommend hiring a tour guide and taxi for smaller group tour. We were able to see some fabulous aspects of the country and mountains. While there are not many shopping places discussed by the cruise staff for this port, the tour guide took us to several places to buy souvenirs and see the best of Roatan.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
We loved Costa Maya! Great shopping, along with a wonderful excursion with Diana at the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. Diana was knowledgeable and took great pride in sharing her country with us.
Don't Miss: Chacchoben Mayan Ruins

Pros: The excellent customer service throughout the entire crew

Cons: Promotions offered through cruises.com for spa services not honored by Celebrity

Recommends Celebrity Solstice? Yes!
