Review summary
Celebrity Reflection: This was my first time on a Celebrity cruise, and I was impressed by a lot and I also thought there was room for improvement on a few things. Reflection is a slightly older ship. It was built in 2012 but kept in great condition. I believe it was renovated since then. The Staterooms: My boyfriend and I had a veranda room and loved the chairs out on the veranda! They were comfy and the top half reclined back (not the legs, but enough to feel way more relaxed than just a normal chair). I thought the room was well designed with a lot of storage space. I liked that there was storage over the bed. The bathrooms and showers were slightly larger than what I expected. The stateroom attendant was friendly and did a great job tidying and cleaning up our room. I loved how there was turn down service, although we didn’t require it much, it was nice to expect a clean room and if I needed anything else he could bring it at that time. The only thing I wish it did get a little cooler in the rooms. We kept our thermostat all the way cool most of the time. One other thing is that it was a bit noisy. It seems a lot of people let their doors slam when they enter or exit and this happened throughout the night sometimes. We heard some other noises as well. The Food: I really liked the Main Dining Room. I thought it was decently refined, had a nice variety of dishes and the servers were wonderful. I don’t eat pork much at all and I tried the pork chop on the last day and it was fantastic. I also really enjoyed their salads which changed from day to day, with the exception of always being able to order a ceasar. I was not the biggest fan of the Oceanview Café buffet. I preferred it for lunch over breakfast. Certain items were good, but some not so much. I really liked their pizza, chicken wings and their soft serve ice cream. I also was not the biggest fan of the ambiance of the buffet. It felt a little like a cafeteria. I also wish they had better pastries in the morning. We did not try any specialty dining but I heard from other guests that the sushi was really good. Entertainment: We did not watch any of the shows, but passed by the theater many times and it was the same comedian each night. I liked how they had a magician but did not see the show. They had some live music sporadically- especially at night in various places, which I am always a fan. Casino: I liked the variety of machines in there. I also enjoyed that it was smoke free! The casino hostess was very nice and helpful. The Solarium: Very elegant style. I enjoyed the lounge chairs and the adults only atmosphere. I really really wish they had larger hot tubs though. Also, the jets came from below and no jets behind you. That is just something I personally like a lot. When people got back from the ports, the pool got very busy. Wish the pool was a little bigger. They do have the other pool outside of the solarium as well. I liked how there was some healthy snacks at the spa café I believe it was called, which was in the Solarium pool area. It did get slightly warm in there as it is fully enclosed; however I like this concept due to unpredictable weather that may occur. This design would allow you to still enjoy being in or around the pool area. I liked how you don’t have to check out towels- you can just grab what you need and put it in the bin after done using them. Misc: We were located near the forward so this may be the reason we vibrated. When we were docking in Coco Cay for about an hour, early in the morning we were vibrating a lot! We did not enjoy this. I totally understand if it happens occasionally, but it was kind of intense and for a long while. We also vibrated in the main dining a bit on both nights. Maybe this is due to it being an older ship. Whatever the reason, I wish it was a slightly smoother ride. Final comments: The crew members were all friendly, helpful and pleasant. The ship was bit more niche oriented in its design. I do prefer a bit more open design, but for the size I think they did a great job. It’s a very elegant ship and there are fun areas to hang out in including the lawn/green space on the top deck with some activities and a giant TV to watch sports etc. I also really enjoyed the sunset bar. Grab a drink and look at the sunset. I prefer bigger ships, but for the first time on Celebrity overall I was impressed!Embarkation
