Review summary

After four cruises on other lines, we picked Celebrity Reflection for an introduction to Mediterranean cruising, and it was just about perfect. The ship, the crew, the amenities, the food and beverages and the ports. We liked it so much we booked three future cruises for 2018 and 2019 while on board.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Seamless, easy and enjoyable. Embarkation is tougher a lot of other places.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
A very enjoyable experience in all dining venues. Opus main dining had some of the best menus we have experienced cruising. Tuscan was our favorite specialty restaurant, but all are excellent. The selection of beer, wine and spirits was wide and enjoyable. A variety of drinking venues made is easy to find something we liked any time of day or night.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
On board we recovered from the excursions we took and could always find a spot to strech out and relax.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Not always shows we liked, but those we choose to see were well done.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Morales, the Happy Morning man in Oceanview every start our day the right way. Romeo, our room steward was the best best, hang on to him! Our waiter in Opus, Ricardo and his helper Jose can serve us any time any where, efficient and a pleasure. And the bartender evenings in Cellar Master, name forgotten, was the best of all the quality bartenders on this voyage.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Reflection, the newest in the Celebrity fleet was well designed and east to move around. Clean and well maintained throughout.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Were selected Concierge cabin 1206 near the stern. Overall size good, but the bath is a bit tight, one at a time to use it. The balcony was comfortable and quaint, except the guests in the next cabin. Bed and pillows were very nice and storage space abundant. Romeo (our steward) kept everything neat, clean and orderly.

Ship tip

Book real early if you want a well placed room. We booked eight months in advance and had the choice of two tenth level at that time.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
Spent two nights at Hotel Traiano before departure, and experienced a wonderful sea side town with with wonderful restaurants.

Messina, Sicily

We picked an excursion that was no where near the value of the cost. And didn't get to see enough of the island.

Valletta, Malta

5 out of 5
Amazing sail in and out with the wall that surrounds the port. Excursion to Blue Lagoon as informative and fun. Would not want to do this in the summer, as it was crowded enough on the October day we were there.

Rhodes, Greece

5 out of 5
Another wall city, Spent interesting time walking the Unesco site near the port port.

Mykonos, Greece

5 out of 5
We were lucky and got the only dock space available for the day. Narrow streets lined with shops and restaurants and an occasional delivery truck made for a neat walk around day. This was our shopping port.

Santorini, Greece

4 out of 5
Tender ports are not our favorite, but Reflection handled it well. No much close to either tender port, so we booked a tour of Oni and Faire. Would have been excellent expect for the traffic we endured.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

3 out of 5
To big a city! Excursion to Acropolis was worthwhile, but again very crowded and too much city traffic. Our four hour excursion lasted six hours because of that.

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Great castle tour on our own and time to shop for last minute gifts to take home. Afternoon excursion to Hurculaneum was neat and very informative, with stops at cameo factory and a wine tasting.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
One of three bags was hidden in the mass of luggage. it took the staffers to find it.
