Alaska is Beautiful

Sail Date: May 26, 2006

Reviewed: 11 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Oceanview

Overall, we were thrilled with the ship's quality, food, and ammenities. However, the smokers ruin your space quickly--if you are a non-smoker.

Pros: The Scenery, the elegance of the ship

Cons: Smoke overtook the ship

Food and Dining
Desserts were beautiful--but bland.
Cabin / Stateroom
Family Stateroom was perfect for family of 5. However, the shower smelled of mildew constantly.
Service and Staff
We noticed the service quality diminshed as the end of the cruise neared.
Children's Programs
My kids did not enjoy the programs--my kids are all over 10. The programs seemed to be geared to the under 7 ages.
Ship Quality
The smokers were allowed to smoke indoors on one side of the ship--well this contaminates the whole indoor area. Especially when the weather is inclimate!
Shows were great!
Skagway, Alaska
The summit bus ride was the best--better than the train ride. My kids were able to get out at the top and play in the snow!
Don't Miss: Summit Bus ride
Juneau, Alaska
White water rafting was fun!
Ketchikan, Alaska
Very poor town-nothing worth seeing--unless you pay bug dollars to take an excursion out of Ketchikan.
Don't Miss: nothing
