Most Disappointing Cruise

Sail Date: September 01, 2010

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Inside

The ship was overdue for refurbish to say the least. Carpet rolled back in the stateroom hallway to fill holes, carpets soiled, deck tables only dry wiped not washed, no gloves worn by food handlers. Tiles cracked, mattresses lumpy and worn out, shower stall needed a good cleaning and re-grouting. The staff did the best they could with what they had to work with. Captains' Club was a joke, no credit for past cruises, no upgrades as promised, no special treatment at all. No baggage handlers or trolleys at dock, no special consideration for disabilities noticeable.

Pros: other travellers

Cons: Lack of service, friendliness of Captain and Officers, unannounced policy changes

Cabin / Stateroom
Mattresses were lumpy and we had to request they be turned every second day so as to not be sleeping in a hole. Room was very small, sofa was stained, bedding was well worn. Definitely needed to be re-done.
Service and Staff
Ask three staff members a question, get three different answers. Only friendly helpful staff we encountered were our stateroom attendants and the Assistant Manager of Customers Relations. The Captain did not speak or even smile, Officers were standoffish. Servers were very friendly.
Entertainment might have been good, but as our dinner seating interfered with the show we had to chose whether we ate in the evening or went to the show, as well as the Disco because if we dined (late seating) the show was already running so that we would have to leave part way through and the Disco was almost finished when we finished dining. Very little other entertainment on board.
Food and Dining
Food served in main dining room did not reflect what was on the menu. Seating times often interfered with both the show and the disco times making it impossible to attend either. Deck 10 cafe served better food. Shocked to note that for dining as it used to be there was a huge cover charge per person to the Specialty Restaurant.
