Review summary

Good cruise with great service, food, and drink. Martini bar show was great entertainment. Not comfortable with Celebrity's marketing emphasis on LGBTQ community that is turning off many in the S community. If they want to have a separate cruise for that community (and they do) that is fine.

Embarkation

We were suite level and it couldn't have been easier

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Mainly ate in suite restaurant Luminae - it was great. Had a few breakfasts in the OceanView Cafe which was good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Didn't do much on-board except for the Inside Tour. Highly recommended!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Day 2 entertainment (singer) was HORRIBLE! Comedian a few days later was EXCELLENT as was the singer Ashlie A. the next night. Last night's show was meh.

Children's Programs

Butler (Deniasa) was fabulous. Bartender in Retreat Lounge (Marshall) was great.

Cabin / Stateroom

It was OK for the size. It is between the supports for the Magic Carpet but we only saw the MC go up/down about 4 times all week. It was not a problem. Being the aft most suite bewteen the supports we had an additional aft facing window on our balcony - that was nice.

Ship tip

I have one main beef with Celebrity based upon past and this cruise. They are marketing to the LGBTQ community. I believe Celebrity is sailing into uncharted waters with the emphasis on LGBTQ clientle. I have a few gay friends but do not want to spend my vacation with gangs of them that I do not know. EDEN WAS TURNED INTO A GAY BAR (focal point for social gathering set up by Celebrity) and many/most of the other guests I met avoided that area. That was a BIG disappointment for my wife and I. We were looking forward to the unique area and entertainment - NOT gangs of gay men (and loud/proud/drunk Lesbian women) monopolizing the bar and acting like they owned the place (which they did with Celebrity's help). I have 3 future cruises already booked on Celebrity and am considering cancelling them and switching to a Cruise line that does not promote the LGBTQ culture. My loyalty is being eroded with this controversial marketing direction.

Disembarkation

Quick and easy - we had the luggage/airport valet service - it worked great. Some of the staff were confused as we were waiting to disembark - they thought we were trying to be the first ones to the bags in the terminal.

I was on the same sailing and made friends with several couples...straight or gay made no difference. All fun people that I enjoyed meeting and spending time with. Please move on.

We have a couple of close relatives that are gay. That is thier business. However I don't think they should have thier own events on the ships. That promote having them treated separate.

IMO the reviewer was stating that it doesn't or shouldn't have such a significant emphasis for that community ONLY. As a woman of color I'd rather go to a place that is for everyone not just because it's for a certain group and make it obvious that it's because I'm a WOC. There is nothing wrong with all people communing but why make a big deal about it just gather and have fun. Everyone is so sensitive these days. Stop passing judgment on one another. Peace!

LGBTQ people are just like anyone else - no different than you or I. Their preference of mate doesn’t make them unsuitable for hanging out or getting to know. Maybe if you spent some time with them and got to know them, rather than applying stereotypes and avoiding them like the plague, you’d see this.
