The ship is ok. ,staff was nice. only concern about food, there is not much variety in the food. everyday is kind of same . Indian food has no variety at all, same everyday. 4-5 days in a row ....fish curry and chicken. breakfast items are all the same everyday..after midnight everything is closed.
Didn't see any kind of chinese food.Italian pasta is drop out
Bar : happy hr has only 3 kind of drinks. regular drinks are too expensive.
main dinning is ok. but then you don't know what you are getting. writing and prepration of the dishes are very different.
The cruise was overall a great experience. Service staff were excellent, food in the Grand room was excellent, my room waS always excellently maintained by the cleaning staff. Like stated earlier, excellent. The reason why I am giving the cruise a 4 out of 5 stars though is the lack of variety of activities aboard the ship while in transit to the ports of call. Understandably it would be more diffucult to have a greater variety of activities other than four texas hold'em tournaments everyday for a period of days. In reality this is just a minor issue considering that the real meat of the cruise is the sites visited such as Hubbard Glacier and the various ports of call. Those experiences were amazing to say the least. As my first Alaskan cruise, I have nothing to compare it too, as a cruise though it compares far more favorably then my cruise down to Mexico a few years back. That one was far less excellent.
P.S The serving staff at table 607, Marcilano and Krishna were the best from the start to finish!
This was my first ever cruise , so my expectations were based on other peoples comments, I must say that I was a bit disappointed however.
- stateroom had enough space to store clothes etc; also umbrella and tote bag had been thoughtfully provided.
-The buffet food had enough variety for different cuisines
-The crew and attendants/ wait staff were very polite and attentive
-Blankets/towels on the pool deck was a nice touch(although was too cold and windyduring my recent trip)
-Activities were very lame ; it was diffcult to pass time during the day; some more intellectual stimulation and more interaction/engaging the crowd sort of stuff would have been better.
-The night time shows were reasonably good but was the same thing every night; except for the comedy stand up and the aerialists, nothing else stands out. The same performers with the same performances every time becomes boring
-Icy Strait point was not worth stopping for a shore excursion.
-Dinner at the grand restaurant was a long wait-took upto 2hrs at times
-I appreciated the choice of Indian cuisine but was not well prepared.
-Should be more of Alaska in an 'Alaskan cruise'-this was more time on the ship
-Providing motion sickness tabs/ bags in every room would be good
The cruise was very enjoyable. Smooth Sailing and great weather. I was very impressed with our room stewart. He always seem to be around. He know our names and which room was ours. When he seen us coming he would go to our room and open the door for us. If we were carring bags from shopping he would take them and put them in our for us. The shows were fun and entertaining and lot of other activities to keep us busy. It was also nice that the kids had a club so they could be with kids their oun age. What I didn't like was there was no way to comunicate with the children (age 10 and 13) and they could be any were on the boat. Our Disney Cruise had phone that could be used on board. The food was good and a nice variety,
Had a great time aboard the Celebrity Century on our Alaskan cruise. The ship does show signs of wear, but all of the main interior areas are very nice. The ship has a "funky" feel to it with lots of smaller areas to explore. The food was excellent and the staff were some of the friendliest we have ever had on a cruise. All in all a very good time.
The Staff were very friendly. The ship is very attractive. The food was exceptional. I tayed in a suite and had access to the Micheal's Loungs. The lounge is an excellent idea the staff with super helpful, I will go suite from now on!
The ship maintenance was substandard compared to Princess Cruise Line and the noise level in our room was unacceptable. There was continuous clanking, sounded like bottles being dropped into a steel bin and then being crushed. Personnel on the ship was excellent. Choice of ports of call not the greatest.
My only regret on this cruise was, it wasn't long enough, I really enjoyed myself, along with my daughter & son-n-law. This was my second trip using the Celebrity Cruise line. There was never a moment of motion sickness. The food on the ship was awesome. View from my cabin on the ship, the day we left Ft Lauderdale, it was beautiful. The crew on the ship was always polite and very helpful with any questions or location of all events.
I took my daughter and her two college friends for spring break, they had never been on a cruise. They loved it!!! Caesar our cabin attendant above and beyond. Our server Sandae and his coworkers were incredible, especially the girl that helped him with water, rolls, ect... Everyone was so amazing that I cant even put it into words. PRICELESS!!!!
I must say,from the time i stepped foot on the ship i felt secure! My wife was a bit frustrated because of always having to show your stateroom pass and i.d. until i reminded her its all for our safety. Anyways just to narrow it all down,every worker on that ship i feel like they gave they best in providing me with their services and respect. While eating in the restaurants or drinking at the bar,i was always approached by someone asking me if i needed something else so with that being said i highly reccommend Celebrity. **And i will be returning again wit my kids.........
Due to complications with purchasing on my mobile in advance... we were unable to download what was needed for boarding and were not allowed on the ship without additional documentation. We paid in full in advance for and upgraded suite expecting a once in a life time experience... only to be turned away with no refund or comp.
This was a wonderful cruise. Our Cruises Only agent, April Blais, did a marvelous job setting up our trip. Although the ship, Century, is showing her age, the staff and crew were outstanding. The Panama Canal itself was fascinating and not to be missed.
Staff was friendly and very accomadating, representing several different countries which was great because most passengers were 40-80 year old europeans. Be prepared not to get the best night's sleep unless you have ear plugs and sleeping pills, because there is a lot of squeaking and shifting and engine noises depending on sea conditions. The stops/ports were great but the time at each port was too short and most locations you land in had a mix of tourism and locals. We suggest venturing as far from the port to get a better glimpse of the life in each countrry. Pre-purchased tours that you find on board for each destination are very expensive, so we suggest looking for the right price when you get off the ship. Rule of thumb; The price is ALWAYS negotiable.
The service at the Grand Restaurant was great but the meals there became a bit repetitive and lacked a bit of love and craftsmanship. The buffet had a range of tasty options but after a while your options also become trite. Formal nights can be a bit stiff and if you do not dress excessively nice you feel a bit left out. Also, you don't receive adequate descriptions of what to wear so it may subtract from your overall enjoyment.
Shops on board are limited and expensive so make sure you bring all your toilletries, snacks and booze. Drinks are very expensive, although there are happy hours, times are limited and so are the drinks.
The activities can be a little dull and limited especially for folks our age (late 20's-early 30's). The 'educational' speakers were a bit boring and often dumbed down the information and history of the places to visit. The nightly dj was very average to say the least and dissapointing, especially since there isn't much to do after 10 pm.
They have an arcade on board, however the games were very few, outdated and very expensive.
The ship overall shows it's age, but still very nice and maintained.
Sunbathing on the deck is cool and the pools are small-medium sized but still fun. We would have liked to see better quality entertainment and world music and also cuisine and food related to the ports we visited.
Also, they take your suggestion form very serious and will question and or follow up.
Overall we had a good time, it was our first cruise and it was 15 days!
Ship is old and in dire need of rehab. Carpets and upholstery were stained ragged and just plain dirty looking. Heavy handed use of disinfectant sprays scented the air but I failed to see actual cleaning performed. Dining room chairs need legs tightened and to be reupholstered. I felt like I was sitting in a wobbly hole every evening at dinner. The Aqua Spa for breakfast and lunch was fantastic. It served light meals that hit the spot. On-board entertainment was poor. Singers had no breath control and poor enunciation. I've seen better costumes and stage scenery in high school productions. We did have a Hawaiian crafts person June who was excellent and very entertaining. Chelsea was very knowledgable and a great speaker. Astronomy lecturer was monotone and boring. Dining room and shore excursion staff were very polite and had great customer service skills but were extremely disorganized. Almost seemed like they were trainees. Food quality was good, portion size small, which I appreciated, but menu selection especially for light meals was non-existent. You wanted to eat light? One selection only. We experienced rough seas but the captain chose not to use the ship stabilizers. He finally put them out when we were in a gale with 25-27 foot waves. Drinks were over priced: 1 small martini $11. The cruise director and his staff did a poor job arranging activities especially considering we had 8 sea days! We cruise a great deal and have been told we had to go on Celebrity as it was the best! I was disappointed and will not cruise with Celebrity again.
The food was excellent in the dining room. I loved having the ice cream available at no cost. The staff all over the ship was great. The guest speakers and Hawaiin craft teacher, were all superior! My one and only complaint, is the mattresses! I had 3 different mattresses, due to my complaints, and they were all lousey! Buy new mattresses!!!!!!
We enjoyed the cruise very much. The entertainment was wonderful.Of course,all of the staff couldn't have been nicer.We especially enjoyed talking with alot of the staff enjoying the fact that they were from all over the world.
I was quite sea sick the majority of the cruise. I went to the spa and had accupuncture treatments by Jonathan. He was so nice and concerned about helping me feel better. I want to him many times. He treated me like I was his only patient.
The only thing I was a little disappointed was the buffet. The food was good but too much of the same menu everyday. I thought you could have had more variety. A little change would have been nice.
