Cruise snooze

Sail Date: March 01, 2013

Reviewed: 3 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

The ship is 18 years old and some of it still looks good\, some not so much. Our \"suite\" was quite small\, little closet storage\, oversized veranda\, the bathroom layout wouldn't even allow the door to open fully. The sink had several large cracks sealed with a wide bead of sealant. Poor quality. The food was only average and not dependable. Some entres were quite good. We don't participate in the entertainment\, so we can't comment on that. It was too many sea days for us\, and the weather was unrelentingly overcast or raining and with a 25mph wind\, it was not pleasant to be on deck very much. The weather adversely affected the port experience and the excursions in some cases. We would never sail on this ship again\, though we might consider Celebrity on a larger ship\, but not for a while. I've sailed on the larger ships and generally had a better experience in every regard.

Pros: The staff

Cons: The ship\, the weather

Recommends Celebrity Century? No.

Food and Dining
Lack of dependable consistent quality in the dining room was a disappointment\, though several meals were quite good.
Service and Staff
The staff was great. Our butler\, Olga\, was outstanding. Teea in the cova cafe was a super barrista\, and the room steward and somelliers were very good. Guest services was very good. Some of the officers were less than helpful.
Cabin / Stateroom
I was appalled by the bathroom in our suite\, with a cracked sink and a door that wouldn't open fully. Poor layout. The rooms and closet should be larger and the veranda could easily have been 4 to 5 feet shallower and still been fine.
Ship Quality
Generally not bad\, about what you expect for this class of cruise line\, though much of the ship was outdated compared to slickly renovated areas such as the Aqua Spa\, barber and Salon areas.
