We sailed on board the Century in July 2011 for a cruise to Alaska. It was a vacation we will not soon forget! We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere on board. If you wanted dance and party the night away, you could. If you wanted a quiet night, you could also have that.
We also really enjoyed the itinerary. The highlight was no doubt the Hubbard Glacier. It was breathtaking, and since it was such a nice day, we got extremely close to it. We even got to see and hear pieces of the glacier crash into the water!
This ship exceeded expectations in many ways! Please see below for details on the individual aspects.

Food and Dining

A major highlight of the cruise! The grand restaurant is beautiful! It is two decks, and has huge windows at the back looking over the water..
Our waiters, Ruth and Anthony, were outstanding. The food was delicious and presented very nicely.

First of all, our cruise director John was amazing! He worked very hard, and he seemed to show up everywhere. There were countless activities to do every single day, and it is literally impossible to take in all that you would like too.
We thoroughly enjoyed going to the shows in the theater every night. Three huge production shows, a comedian, a variety night, and even a ventriloquist who was a finalist on America's got talent! There was also lots of entertainment throughout the day in night in the public rooms.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We chose not to take advantage of these programs, since the kids just loved hanging out on the rest of the ship. But the youth staff had an extensive schedule planned each day for the youth on board. The ones who partook seemed to be having a very fun time.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Terrific! The ships staff were extremely friendly and very personable to talk to. They were a very hard working bunch, and were ALL were willing to go out of their way to make the passengers happy. We still miss some of the staff members that we got to see everyday, and became quite close to.
The officers of the ship were very involved with the passengers which was quite cool.
The only staff we didn't like was the photography staff. They were quite pushy. Nice people, just pushy. If you don't want your photo taken you have to be stern.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We didn't really know what to expect, since this is the oldest ship in Celebrity's fleet ( however they did a major renovation in 2006). But we were pleasantly surprised. The ship was very nice. Public rooms are beautiful. For the most part it was very well maintained. Everything was spotlessly clean. Our only complaint was that some of the windows were dirty, and needed cleaning.
Overall, the ship is laid out very nicely. The only confusing part is the very back of the ship since the galley is located there and you have to navigate around it.
The century is a mid sized ship, but even at that rating, is quite big and astonishing to look at from the outside. It was a perfect size for us.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The four of us shared an inside cabin. It had all the amenities we needed, and it was bigger then we expected! Overall, it was very comfortable. The only thing was it got a bit stuffy at night. Our room attendant kept it very clean . It would have been nice to have an ocean view or balcony, but we didn't spend next to any time in the room during the day, so an inside was all we really needed.

Pros: Service, food, entertainment, atmosphere onboard

Cons: Being bombarded to get our picture taken wherever we went

Recommends Celebrity Century? Yes!
