Very Disappointing Ship, Food, Staff

Review SummaryWe took the eastbound trip from FL to Barcelona in April 2006 and although the ship was in need of work, the food and service were extraordinary. In short, we truly enjoyed every minute on board. This year we took the December 2007 wesbound trip from Barcelona to Miami... what a big disappointment. The ship was already in need of work, the food was substandard, and the service was bad in the public areas. To top it off, the staff was in fear of the dreaded intestinal scourge so the ship constantly smelled of bleach and all of the interior railings were sticky and stinky. One couldn't enter any of the dining areas without being handed a disinfectant wet-wipe and only the staff was allowed to dispence coffee, juice and water. The shushi bar was never even opened during the whole 17 night cruise.
Celebrity cancelled three itinerary stops, Tangier, Casablanca, and Nassau and replaced them all with one extra stop in Spain. It felt like Celebrity was just being frugal and took advantage of the guests by cutting down on stops.
We have taken 20+ cruises, over 10 on Celebrity, and we will be looking at other cruise lines for our next cruise.
Pros: Dining Room Waiter & Wine Steward. Our cabin was very nice.
Cons: After $55million upgrade, ship is already tattered, meals were low grade
