5 Night Bahamas (Jacksonville Roundtrip) Sail Date: March 24, 2007 Ship: Celebration Cabin Type: Oceanview Traveled As: Family (young children) Reviewed: 10 years ago
The smallest ship we have been on, very dated and in need of refurbishing. The shows and entertainment were great and kid-friendly. We loved our wait staff and the whole dining room experience. The breakfast and lunch buffets were not at all what we remembered from our other cruises. Poor quality meat, dirty utensils and trays in addition to dirty carpet and sticky tabletops made for a less than appealing eating experience.
Food and Dining

The dinner served in the dining room was pretty good as was breakfast in the Horizen room. However the buffets were poor quality and had no variance from day to day like our other cruise experiences. Very disappointed in the food and the Wheelhorse Lounge lack of cleanliness.

We all had fun at the shows, poolside, bingo, etc. Kid -friendly entertainment made it great for all of us.
Service and Staff

Our Maitre-d "Joseph" was the best. We had a lot of fun in the Vista dining room. Our waiters, Jullian and June were great and attended to our children very well. We only saw our steward twice the whole time but we were satisfied with his service in our room. Sexy Greg and Skip were funny and entertaining. The rest of the staff (especially the cooks in the buffet) were not very friendly. The security guards were friendly and pleasant as were the Carnival staff prior to boarding and after debarkation.

Small ship, out-dated. We would not even use the handrails because they had a film on them and were "sticky" just like the tables. We felt like we were not clean the whole trip.
Cabin / Stateroom

Our room was small but we expected that. It was cleaned daily and we were pleased with it in general. Our only complaint was that our shower drain did not work and needed to be repaired after it flooded twice. Also we showered in our flip-flops because we were afraid we would catch something-again we did not feel clean even in the shower.
we were told that beach was a 20 minute walk from the ship. we walked for 45 minutes only to find ourselves in the midst of a homeless area and the beaches closed due to a bacteria in the water. On the way back to the ship we ended up in the homosexual district which we really felt was inappropriate for our children to see. We were all annoyed and disappointed and really wished that someone on the ship would have been notified of the bacteria in the water-that is a health problem which should have been told to warn tourists. I would not recommend this port for children.
