WE WENT ON A TRIP BACK IN 2000, THE CELEBRATION. OUR DAUGHTER WAS 14, AND THERE WAS NOT MUCH TO DO FOR A TEENAGER. THE DISCO DIDN'T ALLOW HER PAST 10 O'CLOCK, AND THE RECREATION ON BOARD WAS NOT IN HER AGE CATEGORY. WE HAD A ROOM WITH A PORTHOLE, VERY SMALL AND THE SHOWER WAS ALSO. WE WHERE SUPPOSED TO GET AN UPGRADE, SINCE THE SHIP WASN'T FULLY OCCUPIED AT THE TIME OF BOOKING, BUT THAT CHANGED WHEN THE CRUISE LINE ADDED PASSENGERS FROM THE SHIP "PARADISE," WHICH LOST AN ENGINE AT THE TIME OF HER SAILING. SO MUCH FOR THE UPGRADE.THERE WAS REALLY NOT MUCH NEED FOR THE ROOM STEWARD, SINCE WE ONLY NEEDED HIM TO CLEAN THE BATHROOMS AND BRING NEW TOWELS. AT DINNER TIME IN THE FORMAL DINING ROOM WE HEARD TALK ABOUT LITTLE FOLDED ANIMAL SHAPES MADE FROM TOWELS FROM OUR TABLE COMPANIONS, WE NEVER SAW THESE ANIMAL SHAPES UNTIL THE LAST DAY BEFORE LEAVING. OUR DAUGHTER SAID THAT IT WAS TIPPING DAY APPEARENTLY, WHICH IS ANOTHER THING I THINK IS ABSOLUTELY UNCALLED FOR. WE WENT ON THIS TRIP AS ALL INCLUSIVE, AND I DON'T TIP THE MAID IN A REGULAR HOTEL EITHER, SO WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO FEEL OBLIGATED TO TIP ON A SHIP? IT IS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPLEMENT THEIR WAGES. TO CHARGE $3.00 PER PERSON PER DAY FOR EACH STEWARD IS UNBELIEVABLE!!I COULD HAVE TAKEN ANOTHER PERSON ON THIS CRUISE FOR WHAT THEY WANTED IN TIPS AFTER ADDING IT ALL UP! THE MAITRE'D WASN'T EVEN AT OUR TABLE AND IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT HE ALSO SHOULD BE TIPPED.. I DON'T THINK SO. TO POST IT INSIDE YOUR CABIN AS TO WHAT SHOULD BE PAID IS OUTRAGEOUS. THE SHIP WAS DIRTY, SMOKING WAS ALLOWED MOST EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING THE ROOMS AND ELEVATORS. WHAT DID IT FOR ME ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE WAS THAT THE WAITER COULDN'T LIGHT THE CHERRY JUBILEE DESSERT DUE TO IT BEING A FIRE HAZARD, AS WE WERE TOLD BY HIM. EXCUSE ME??? WHAT ABOUT THE SMOKING?? IT WAS TRULY DISGUSTING. NOWHERE ON THIS SHIP WAS THERE AN AREA WHERE YOU COULDN'T SMELL SMOKE. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE LAUNDRY FACILITIES LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED. THERE WAS ONLY A FEW LAUNDRY ROOMS FOR ALL THESE PEOPLE WITH THREE MACHINES IN EACH. NO THANK YOU. OUR NEXT CRUISE, IF THERE IS ONE, WILL DEFINETLY BE ON A NON-SMOKING SHIP OR A SHIP WHERE THERE ARE ONLY DESIGNATED CLOSED AREAS FOR SMOKING, AS IN AIRPORTS. DON'T BRING CHILDREN ON THIS CRUISE SHIP, OR ANY SHIP WHERE THERE IS EXCESSIVE SMOKING OR DRINKING, LIKE THIS ONE.
