Carnival 6 day cruise on the Vista by suntraveler58

Verified Review
/ Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

We were so disappointed on our room location, two of our cabins were 8266, 8252 but my son's room was 6265 on the sixth floor which I asked for all three to be on the same floor. It was hard to gather together because of the rooms were so far apart, even though we used the phones in the room but if we needed something from one another's room this wasn't convenient for us, to meet up together was a problem and we wanted to stay together!  This is something I had worked on a year before we went so I don't know the problem was!

My family of 16 sailed... by amandat118

Sail Date: /

My family of 16 sailed on the Vista July 15th ages 4,8, high school graduates, young adults and grand parents. After reading reviews I fully expected to not be happy as this was my first Carnival cruise ( I have previously only sailed Disney) but I can say we ALL had the best time!! It was not issue free we had some problems with drainage in our bathroom which they fixed quickly and followed up multiple times which is all we can ask. We missed Aruba and Curaçao because of weather which wasn't anyone's fault and we had a great time in San Juan and Saint Maarten instead. My big kids loved both the IMAX and Thrill theatre. We all loved the sky ride, the line could get long but we just looked at when it opened and planned for it - we did it multiple times. Dive in movies was a favorite of all of us. Matt the CD was wonderful. Our stateroom host and dining staff were great and they worked so hard. I do believe they are understaffed on this boat which is unfair to both the guests and the staff..they can only do so much with the time they have but we had no complaints about our service, they all were nice and worked really hard. Pizza line could get long at night especially - didn't ruin our trip we either waited or we didn't no big deal - the food was great we all agreed and we sure didn't go hungry. My 4 year old asks every day when we can go back to the Carnival "Bista"'she calls it. My 8 year old loved the kids club as well. We felt like there was just so much to do for every one of us. Overall it was one of the best vacations we ever had and have already booked the same sailing for next year. We still gotta get to Aruba!

Exciting and fun cruise! by shavannaross

I really enjoyed the ship and all the activities it had to offer. The staff were friendly and professional. The ship was clean and neat. Plenty of options for food and entertainment. Would have like a pool at serenity or an adults only pool.

On the Vista for the... by Crazycruiser962

Sail Date: /

On the Vista for the second time and I have to say this time around was even better! I wanted to give an honest review and look at everything with an open mind! Why 5 stars? The ship is impeccably clean and well maintained and whether you like the design or not shouldn’t be a reason to take away a star! We happen to like the design of the Vista and all of its amenities! Some reviewers I think don’t rate the Vista on its merits don’t like the colour of the rugs take away a star, it’s silly really and for the people that give the Vista a one, two or even three stars just isn’t realistic and we should probably ignore those types or reviews! Just my opinion of course 😊 let’s see embarkation very smooth on the ship within 15 minutes! Cabin spotless and tons of room for closet space! Cabin cleaned twice a day and our room steward Mudita was amazing! He never missed a beat and new us by name immediately! Balcony cabin, last year we had the benefit of being aft Havana! Next year Havana on the horizon! Can’t wait! Dining went very well the team of Saw and his staff were great food great to very very great! Food was always hot and we has a beautiful table at the aft looking over the ocean! Specialty restaurants on the Vista of course are excellent in fact the steak house is rated as one of the best at sea! So for Carnival bashers sorry this restaurant and service is incredible! I recall a reviewer saying that the buffet was terrible and that all they served was pork, that simply isn’t true as there is a ton of options for anyone! There is so many things to do on the Vista one simply can’t do them all on a 8 day cruise, but it’s sure fun trying! From the sky ride which is really a lot of fun, the ropes course the water slides and on and on for fun in the sun! For quieter times the serenity is great! People mention the pools are small and not enough so book the Havana suites or cabins and you have a pool to yourselves pretty much! People need to remember that we are on a cruise ship after all and how big can the pools really be! There is enough deck chairs for everyone to enjoy and yes people do get out there early and keep them, but this is an issue with every cruise line unless you sail with Seabourn or crystal or other high end cruise lines! Can’t say enough about the staff on the Vista they are incredible, happy and always there to help with anything! People mentioned about the long lines at the buffet or guys or blue iguana, that’s an easy fix don’t go at peak times and really they get people through quickly! The Vista is run like a fine tuned machine and we never had any issues or complaints! I will agree however that the liquid lounge has less then stellar seating so do try and sit below so the pillars aren’t in the way! We did every show and the singers and dancers were very entertaining! The veterans ceremony that Carnival does is really unbelievable! What an honour it was to witness! The entertainment on the ship was fabulous from the violinists to one of the male singers he was incredible! We were on board for St. Patty’s day and Carnival celebrated the day with style! It’s funny you know I was down at the customer service desk putting some cash down on our account and a women was there unfortunately being so rude and a loud as she could be so that everyone could hear her, she was complaining about a 2 dollar charge at the casino bar! She didn’t let the staff resolve it without her yelling! it’s very unfortunate that people treat this amazing group of staff so poorly over something so trivial! Disembarking was a breeze and thanks Carnival for another wonderful cruise and we can’t wait for next year!!

Just got off the Vista,... by srhoades071189

Sail Date: /

Just got off the Vista, not even home yet😔. Great and beautiful ship. The shows [*A must see is the scavenger hunt adult show *] were entertaining, comedy was great and music was some of the best (throw back to the best of all time!). 2 trips to Cloud 9 for massages well worth the extra expense, treat yourself!!😋 Sky Ride was worth the 45 minute wait, wish we had done that more than once! Italian restaurant ($15/per person) and Steak restaurant ($30/per person) worth every penny! The Asian restaurant ($15/per person) ok but much different than what you get when you go there for Mongolian....just my opinion, not sure we would do that again. Guys Burgers and Blue Iguana Cantina were both amazing! Lido and pizza were good, as well. We, my husband and I, didn't find that the lines were long (like we had expected from previous reviews) for any of the food stations. Sea Day Brunch was GREAT.....make sure to do THIS!! Room service was the standard, as always. Elevators were slow but there were 5k people on the ship, we expected this! Same stuff on this ship as others: kids that parents let go wild, running all over the ship all times of the day and night, ice cream machine left running all over the floor, people pushing to get in front of you thinking their going to get somewhere before you, etc. Up side: lots of nice and friendly people from all around the world. Met some great people and some great kids, too!! Cruise Director, Schwartz, was very visible and involved in EVERYTHING! He was fun and wanted to make sure that everyone had a great time. HANDS DOWN THE BEST CRUISE DIRECTOR WE'VE EVER HAD! This was our most enjoyable cruise!!😎

Disembarked a couple of hours... by UKWildcats

Sail Date: /

Disembarked a couple of hours ago. I can never understand people complaining about vacations. So you wont be reading any here. Carnival Vista is a very nice ship. The atmosphere was outstanding. The crew, room attendants, servers were all gracious, helpful, nice, and polite, despite a few of unhappy cruisers. Wife and i boarded priority and had immediate access to our ocean suite. From there we explored the ship and found where most of the stuff was. Those Havana balconies are really nice. A couple of places like the lido deck buffet and Red Frog Pub have beer self serve dispensers, swipe your card and pull a lever. Very convenient. Overall the Cruise Director and Playlist players kept us busy and with something to do. Do not listen to bad reviews about the Vista. TRY IT OUT FOR YOURSELF AND BE YOUR OWN JUDGE. We enjoyed it.

Overall, my cruise was great and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I like the pleasure of going to different ports. It feels like taking multiple vacations within the same timeframe.

Loved this ship. Everything was... by mpowell411

Sail Date: /

Loved this ship. Everything was better than I thought it would be. The lines did get a little old on the 4th or 5th day but it was expected with the amount of people on the boat..(sold out for our cruise) only thing I wished I had done was bring my own syrup (it's REALLY not good on the boat) and I wished I had booked Havana for the extra money. Everyone that worked on the ship went the extra mile every time. Specialty restaurants were great. Balcony room great. 21 and up area with a bar on the top deck. Just soooo many great things. Book this ship you won't hate it.

I've been a fan of... by ProfessorMurph

Sail Date: /

I've been a fan of Carnival cruises for a few years now and had been counting down my cruise on the Vista, Carnival's flagship, for 9+ months. I had been seeing bad reviews for the ship and was nervous on embarkation day, but after having spent the last week onboard, let me say that those bad reviews are (in my opinion) completely unfounded! I loved everything about the ship! All staff members I encountered were friendly, courteous, and were always more than willing to help. The ship, though large, was easy to navigate and there was never a shortage of deck chairs or space to lounge around on sea days. All of the activities on board were so fun, especially the ropes course and the Skyride, and that's coming from someone who is afraid of heights! And the food offerings?! Ladies and gents, this was the best part of the voyage! From Pig and Anchor to Guy's Burgers (both included in the fare!) to Cucina Del Capitano and Seafood Shack (both extra but well worth it!), I did not go hungry at all! And of course the main dining was delicious and entertaining! If you're debating on whether or not to take the plunge and go on this ship, DO IT! You will not be disappointed.

Went on the Vista for... by cdewitt

Sail Date: /

Went on the Vista for our honeymoon June 11th 2017. I am not sure where the "bad food comments ate coming from. Everything we ate was excellent. The buffet, the room service, the seafood, the hamburgers, the BBQ, the pasta, the pizza, and let's talk dessert!! Omg...yummy....We had a blast. Staff was superb, always friendly, keeping things clean and orderly. Could not have had better service. We are actually going again in December with some friends, Aruba here we go!! We has six days on our honeymoon and we want more. Felt like six days just wasn't enough, so what the heck....taking a second honeymoon for eight days on the Vista. It was magic. Carnival is great.

Fabulous Honeymoon Cruise by Crystal79

Verified Review
/ Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

This cruise was fantastic! We enjoyed it for our honeymoon after having gotten married about 7 months ago. Our room steward, Francisco, was excellent - he was always extremely friendly whenever he saw us in the hallways, always greeting us by name with a huge smile on his face and asking how our day was going! We opted for the flexible dining time option for dinner, and were curious how this would go since in the past we have always done the traditional dining of a set time each night. It went great - we just went to ticket area each night and got a ticket for our seats right away (never any waiting). All but two of the nights, we got a private, two-top table. The other two nights, we were right next to other guests at larger tables, but that was fine. The food was delicious every night and the service was always incredible - never had to wait more than just a few minutes for each course and the servers kept our waters constantly filled. The buffet lines for breakfast were sometimes a little longer than I would have liked, but lunch was always quick - whether we were getting the buffet food or a Guy Fieri burger. One day we tried the Pig and Anchor Barbecue and it was delicious and not much of a wait! Our room was on the Lido Deck, which made me a little afraid that we might hear a lot of noise in our room, but we never did - everything was always quiet in the room, and it was nice to be so close to all the "action!" The Lido amenities (pools, water slides, deck chairs) were very crowded on at-sea days, but that is to be expected on a  ship that can carry almost 4,000 guests. My husband took advantage of the water slides, Sky Ride, and ropes course on the afternoons when we were in port since many people were still off the ship doing excursions at these times, and the lines were much shorter. We enjoyed three awesome excursions on this cruise too - a tour and beach break at Bamboo Beach Club in Jamaica, String Ray City in Grand Cayman, and Salsa and Salsa (and Margaritas!) in Cozumel. All three were excellent, although we most enjoyed String Ray City and Salsa and Salsa. I highly recommend both of these outings! All the shows on this ship were great - we caught two nights of comedy at the Limelight and three of the musical shows at Liquid ("Amor Cubano," "Flick: Movie Magic" and "America Rocks"). The performers were all fantastic! You can tell how much hard work they put in to giving stellar performances every night! For a small performance space, Carnival does amazing things with the sets, lighting and effects too! Besides some of the crowds and long lines on the ship at times, we only had one other minor issue. Some of our alcohol that we had checked was not delivered to our room as it was supposed to be on the final night. But, as soon as Francisco found out about this, he immediately jumped into action, making calls and checking all the different areas of the ship where it might be located. Within less than 30 minutes, he had found it and brought it up to our room (the sticker had either not been placed on the package when we checked it in or it had somehow fallen off, so it got misplaced). But we were not upset about this since Francisco did such an amazing job in tracking it down so quickly! Overall, we had an amazing honeymoon! Highly recommend the Vista and this particular cruise itinerary!

Can’t understand the negative reviews!... by jerrydebra

Sail Date: /

Can’t understand the negative reviews! This ship is beautiful and for being a large ship very easy to get around. I did not like everything I ate but believe me there was enough that I did😂 loved guys burgers as always, the seafood Shack lobster rolls were great, also the way they did the baked Alaska was so good. Loved the the sky ride, imax and thrill theatre the only negative does not have anything to do with carnival it was the drive to and from Miami. If you can’t have fun on this ship or any carnival ship in my opinion, we’ll bless your heart❤️
