Enjoyable Caribbean Cruise by Phyldewina

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I enjoyed exploring the ship and seeing all its features. The Atrium was an interesting place with its performances and it's central colorful, beautiful column, which changed designs daily. The buffet was very accessible, and I could always find a seat. There could be more signage to find your way around more efficiently!

Great time on Vista! by alwaysshipfaced

Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our, short, 4 day cruise on Vista, was too short. I wish we had taken a longer cruise. We had a great time on Carnival as always. I can't wait for our next cruise.

I was very disappointed with... by norlando08

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

I was very disappointed with this ship. The cruise felt very crowded with not enough staff, especially wait staff and bartenders. It took anywhere from 20 to 30 mins to get a drink. The staff were very overworked. The food was also mediocre. Dinner was very chaotic and did not flow. We wouldn't get out drinks until mid dinner and there were several times they confused orders. There also not a lot of food options and the main eating area would shut down between 2-6. They now charge for room service which is new for me and I did not agree with. The ship didn't do a lot of activities during the day and when they did it was clustered together all at the same times. They barely played music while outside. I did like the layout and the amount of chairs and sitting areas they had on the deck. The kids splash pad was awesome but if your child is not potty trained some staff wouldn't let you in. Staff only addressed this issue with select people. The ship did have a lot of things for kids to do and the camp ocean was wonderful. Staff were great and patient. House keeping was excellent and speedy. They were very accommodating too. Shops weren't very great either. Didn't really have specials and didn't have new items throughout the cruise has past ships had. Overall, I wouldn't go on this cruise again.

Wonderful Last minute Anniversary Cruise. by beachys

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We decided fairly last minute (for us) to take a cruise for our anniversary, right at 60 days. I started looking and Carnival had an inexpensive cruise on the Vista out of Miami going to Grand Turk. We had never been on Carnival nor had we been to Grand Turk. We had heard that the scuba in Grand Turk was amazing. We had also heard Carnival called the lower end of cruising, but we figured a 4 day cruise was very little investment. Disembarkation – nightmare. They skipped over our deck for some reason and then when they called us the lines were chaos. If you took an elevator it spit you out at the front of the line. If you saved the elevator for people who actually needed it you were screwed. We fed into four different versions of the line. People were fighting. It was VERY heated. Two hours in line to get off the ship. Luckily for us our flight left at 2pm. Had it left earlier we would not have made it. We met so many nice people on Vista, that it really did make it fun cruise for us. I have to hand it to Carnival their website is so easy to navigate and user friendly. From the time we booked until the time we came back we received emails from Carnival that walked us through each step. I was impressed before we even got on the ship with Carnival’s fun ship theme to everything. Being that it was our first time our Carnival people want to know would we do it again. Yes, but only on ships with Havana or adult only areas that are quiet.

Just off the Vista, ok... by seeyalater

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

Just off the Vista, ok cruise for 4 days, nice newer ship. Carnival needs to work on its crowd handling if it’s going to build bigger ships. Royal Caribbean does better. Food was ok at best. After 47 cruises and 24 of them with carnival it maybe the last time we go on carnival. It would have to be a huge deal for me to even think about it.

I was extremely disappointed with... by BgDaddy

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

I was extremely disappointed with this cruise. I am not sure where to begin. The ship is one of the newer ones, but was not easy to get around. Also the staff, with the exception of Jay Jay & Esther at the Java Blue, was not helpful or friendly. Which brings me to the food; which was subpar. So we decided to go to Bonsai Sushi and while my wife recieved her food mine never came out so I had to have them remove it from my bill. We just did a 10 day cruise with Celebrity and that cruise was so much better. This could possibly be the end of my Carnival cruising.

Fun cruise vacation by AndeeDawn

We had a wonderful time aboard the Vista! Our only complaints were about other passengers with no manners or consideration for others. The ship, staff, entertainment, and activities were all excellent!

The cruise was a lot of fun. The staff was great. We had Roberto as a waiter for a couple of nights and he was really good and fast and was extremely nice. I really enjoyed Chris our cruise director, this was our 4th cruise and I will remember him. by Lucasm7

Other than the embarking and disembarking processes the cruise was really good. Loved Chris the cruise director and the rest of the staff.

I enjoy Carnival Vista it... by nathanielstrong

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

I enjoy Carnival Vista it was my 2nd time on her and to my delight I was not disappointed. The food was delicious. Had a great time at the Comedy Club and Dancing after the show that was a nice touch. The cruise director did a great job during the cruise. The one thing that I'm not a fan of is the casino and all that smoking you need a gas mask passing through. One part of the ship us non smokers can't enjoy. But I'm not letting that stop me from enjoying my cruising. With everything else on board to keep me occupied I'll be back again. It always sad leaving at the end of the cruise. Carnival keep a bacony cabin open 🛳 sailing to a beautiful island 🌴this one for you Carnival 🍹 thanks keep the improvements coming.

Havana rooms are a must. (Adult only section) by fasteddie1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We enjoyed the Havana area. If it wasn’t for that we would have stuck to flying in to an island and staying at a adult only resort .

Be sure to check out reviews for each ship prior to booking by KayJohnSand

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My family just returned from an 8-day cruise on the Carnival Vista. After a family cruise last year on the Carnival Breeze, we were super excited to cruise again, so we booked our next expedition right away. We sailed out of Miami, FL on Sept 8 and returned yesterday, Sept 16. I have no idea what changed in a years time but the service we received aboard the Carnival Vista was drastically different than that received on the Carnival Breeze. To start, the food on the Vista was lackluster. The sausage served at breakfast taste of dish soap, the bacon is soaked in grease, and everything else lacks seasoning. For breakfast, I tried eating at the buffet on the Lido deck, I tried the Horizons restaurant, to no avail. At home, I usually eat egg whites that consist of all veggies and a hand full of diced ham for flavoring. I even requested this on the cruise ship but it still did not have a taste. As far as food is concerned, I settled on hot dogs and pizza after the third day. Another thing that was disappointing was most of the events started earlier than what was indicated by the carnival hub app, and if you arrive even a minute late, the hosts will not allow you the chance to participate. In one case, my husband screenshot the time to prove the event started early but the host continued to stick to her story that she did not start early. It was frustrating. We were in a party of almost 30 people and we met and talked to many more people on the cruise. There seemed to be a consensus that the Carnival Vista was disappointing - especially since this boat was just introduced a little over 2 years ago. The carpet around the ship was already destroyed, the staterooms were hot and we would hear constant banging all night. We literally had to pull all the covers off the bed because it was so hot. The maintenance guy kept saying the temperature in the room was in compliance with their rules; regardless of our discomfort.

We loved our cruise on... by karman16

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

We loved our cruise on the Vista! She is a beautiful ship and the layout really isn't that hard to get used to. When we first arrived for check in there was a bit of confusion for us because they handed us a number, no one told us what it was for so I had to ask, and then we had no idea where to get our Sail and Sign cards from as there are no longer agents at the desks. We then overheard another couple asking as we walked onto the ship. Definitely room for improvement as far as communication goes. Our room steward introduced himself almost immediately and informed us of his working hours. He gave us a letter with different add-on's to choose from. This was great bc I didn't have to seek him out to ask for an extra pillow. Our itinerary was reversed as I had expected bc of the tropics. Carnival did great bc we still got to go to the same ports. Both of our shore excursions were cancelled and we were quickly credited the amount and able to book another. We were able to do the Skyride which was awesome! We did the ropes course, which was scary in my opinion bc of the winds at sea. The other passengers were great and cheering everyone on. There's a hard and an easy side, but the easy is no walk in the park either. I did the hard side first. Probably wouldn't have made it there if I did easy first. Lol Thrill theater was fun, but super cheesy. We didn't end up doing the Imax bc we didn't care for the movies showing. CD Chris was great at keeping a crowd going. I would definitely take another cruise with him onboard. The entertainment onboard was wonderful. We had anytime dining which I had a love-hate relationship with. It was great to eat at the time that suited you, however, the wait staff was then hit or miss and sometimes your meal took over an hour. We often opted out of dessert bc of timing. On a ship this large with so many things to do in the evening - multiple comedy shows, the main show, movies on the lido, dance parties, etc. Time was definitely not something we were willing to sacrifice when we could grab a similar, quick bite on the lido. The dining options were also very similar in the MDR. It felt as though they were trying to force you to want one of their other (pay for) dining venues. Usually on the ships I eat vegetarian meals in the MDR bc they are just SOO good, but this time around they had basmati rice everyday.. everyday. Not for me. There were always lounge chairs and areas to relax somewhere on the ship which was great. Smoking areas were less bothersome than on many of the smaller ships. The decor has been my favorite of any ship in their fleet so far. More of a modern beachy feel. Disembarkation was another struggle. For the first time ever we decided to utilize checked luggage. We had #11 which was between 9-945am.. After our announcement we weren't off the ship until around 1045am. There were plenty of numbers after us so something was definitely wrong. They said it was customs, but I have my doubts. There was a #30 in front of us in customs so it must not be controlled that great. Overall: excellent cruise with room for improvement in embark/debark
