Review summary

This is probably the last time we take Carnival. 3 people from our group came back sick, and MANY people have covid since the cruise (by reading the Facebook page). Was not impressed with the ship, the food or how Carnival handled the issues we had. I think a $50 OBC was not comparable to all the issues the boat had. Sorry Carnival...back to NCL we go!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was mediocre at best. Service was slow in every area. The specialty restaurants had the best food.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Comedy shows were the best.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Vista has the best cruise director I've seen in a long time. Service in the dining rooms tended to be very slow and drink service was slow. Maybe the cruise line is still short staffed.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Carpets were dirty, no one was making sure people washed hands before entering food areas. Their health protocols were lacking. I did see employees cleaning but the ship looked run down and dirty.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
A/C in cabin didn't work to full power.

Ship tip

This ship continues to have propulsion issues which caused our time in Jamaica to be shortened, we skipped Grand Cayman port. Very disappointing. Carnival has known of the issue since 2019, why has it not been fixed?

Ports of call

Disembarkation

The engine problems caused us to get in 2 hours late, then everyone was trying to rush off to catch flights, the common areas were very congested. they called everyone by Muster station. We did not disembark until 11:00. it was a mess! I'm sure the next group was late leaving also.

Everyone complains about Covid-19 and complains about testing prior to cruising. Let's not mention those who will not cruise, because they don't want to be vaccinated. Well what do you want cruising to close down again, just stop complaining and make an adult decision. Follow Covid-19 protocols, what little they have now or stay at home and find other ways of vacationing unless that's in a Plastic bubble, good luck not catching Covid. We've been on 2 cruising since December and our 3rd one is in July, we wore masks every day and every place we went. Had no problems and thank God no health issues, we will continue to wear masks. Happy sailing everyone and stay safe.

Many people get Covid from a number of sources, not just from other people on ships. Poor uninformed statement

I see people complaining they got covid on the ship. Many people fly to get there and fly home. Many people stay on hotels before and after cruise. Could it be they might have caught covid elsewheres than on the ship?

I understand this review although i had an amazing experience due to Havana friends met. I will test again for Covid this evening since i do have minor symptoms just to be sure i won’t spread it if I do.

My cruise on the Vista is coming up in 3 days, I am so torn on how I feel about all the recent negative reviews and comments about missed ports, engine issues and service. I am still looking forward to my cruise but my enthusiasm is not a good as it once was I guess. I know how to enjoy the ship and there are times on port days that I stay on board, so a missed port is not a deal breaker. I don’t prebook excursions because I am a spur of the moment type person. I do worry about getting sick more than I am concerned about propulsion issues. I pray that all passengers returning from their cruises are doing ok.

If your gonna catch it you can anywhere. I had Corona was in hospital. It's not going to stop me from living and enjoying life while I can... What would stop me from cruising would be extra rules, masks etc..

Sorry this cruise didn’t meet your expectations. Happy you have a cruise line that fits your needs.

Keep seeing this over and over. Broken ships cruising anyway. Glad they don't own an airline.

The comment about getting used to Covid on cruise ships is enough to make people choose to NOT cruise. I’d rather catch it randomly than to know if I go on a cruise I most likely will get it!

Thanks for the review. The vast majority of cruise ships sailing now (92%) have positive Covid cases per the CDC website today, so changing cruise lines will not solve that issue. Accepting that Covid is going to be common on cruises, and everywhere, is something everyone must get used to.
