Review summary

Had good time on the cruise, but the ship design is horrible. All you do is wait, wait wait. Wait in the buffet, wait for pizza, wait for a guy burger, wait for everything. Bad designs, venues too small. Employees are great and friendly. Getting on and off was easy and fairly quick - better than most. Thermal Suites were a waste of money, nothing there and always packed - only 7 heated lounge chairs. But a fun time was had.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Typical embarkation. Great you don't have to get picture taken and wait in line. So pretty quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Cruise director and group were great. You had to wait in line over 30 minutes in the buffet line because they did not have enough sense to open all four lines. By the time you sat down your food was cold. They need to put the food groups on stations so yo don't wait for one thing behind everybody. The venues were the same, too small and long waits. Then unless you got there 1 hour early you didn't get a seat.

Horizons Restaurant

3 out of 5

Stuck us in a side room, so could not appreciate and see all the fun and beauty of the place. Staff was ok, but not outstanding. Lobster was not cooked - mushy and fishy tasting.

Guy's Burger Joint

4 out of 5

Burgers were good and staff was always smiling and having fun. But again lines, lines, lines, there must be a better layout.

Pizzeria Del Capitano

3 out of 5

Had other pizzas on other carnival ships and they were great. Not much sauce here and again wait all the time, sometimes over 30 minutes. staff great.

Piano Bar 88

4 out of 5

FUN. But again unless you were waiting an hour early you couldn't get a seat.

BlueIguana Cantina

4 out of 5

Super servers and food. One of the best on the ship. Just lots of lines.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Pool hogs with the chairs, just throw their towel to the side. Trivias good, but hard to get a seat. Too small of a venue. Thermal suites were a joke, nothing there and too packed.

Cloud 9 Spa

1 out of 5

Thermal Suite was a joke. No room at all. No pool, the little sitting pool was overchorinated most of the time and the saunas too hot. Only 7 heated seats. Would not use again.

Guest Services

5 out of 5

Other than almost always having to wait in line, the employees were great.

Relax Room

1 out of 5

Chairs horrible, no pillows for back support. Room too cold.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
One show good, the rock and roll one, the rest the same from previous cruises. Boring or childish. Comedy club the same no seats. Plus they weren't that funny, no belly laughs.

Liquid Lounge

2 out of 5

Was ok. But lots of seats where you were either blocked by support beams or you just couldn't see the stage. Bad design for a new ship. The engineers must have been drinking when they designed this one.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
They were typical of a cruise. Nice personnel.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Bad design for venues and buffet. Also for other eateries. Not user friendly. Not good signage. For a new ship not designed too smartly. Thermal suites too small, no pool and not big enough.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Had to have then change the bed arrangement - not waht was told online. Then when they did this they did not clean it again. Junk on the rug and floor. Rugs were badly stained. Only one outlet on one side, most new ships have two, not even a razor outlet in the bathroom. Lots of wasted storage space.

Ship tip

Other Carnival ships better, Freedom, Dream. Eat at off times. Dont get the thermal spa, nothing there and always packed. Better on other ships.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5

George Town, Grand Cayman

3 out of 5
Tendering is bad. Shops about the same as elsewhere.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Ok. Bottleneck getting through stores to get to city. Usual sell mentality. Other port in Cozumel way quicker and better.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Great and fast.

Just comparing to 23 other cruises. It is always fun. Have fun and all will go well. Love cruising, as stated just a comparison to others. Never a dull moment. Any cruise is better than no cruise.

I've never been on the vista, but i'm booked July 27... I wanted to read some reviews, seems a lot aren't too great... but I've been on 8 cruises, there's going to be lines, no matter what. It is what it is. I'm still excited. I've only been on one ship that I didn't care for, but no cruise is ever a bad cruise.

Im sorty your experience wasnt better, however, not so sure you were in the right frame of mind for a cruise. Every cruise I have ever been on has had lines for everything. You take the good with the bad.

Oh boy, I’m almost regretting booking our cruise on the Vista 😞 our first cruise was on Paradise and it was fabulous, but we wanted to try different ships, I hope we don’t regret it. ☹️
