Carnival Vista

Ship: Carnival Vista

Review summary

Debarkation was a total mess. Had to wait two hours in the lounge before being called to get in line to leave the ship. Also, I expected more from a newer ship and agree with other reviews that I miss a more impressive atrium. The casino stinks so badly we didn't want to even walk through it. The buffet was just OK. I don't think we will cruise with Carnival again. The positive was the employees. They work really hard and were very friendly.

Cry me a river people. Everything in life is not gonna always be perfect. There are people in this world that will never get on a cruise ship so just be grateful and realize you are blessed to be able to take a nice vacation. Some of us are blessed and don’t even realize it. SMH

Magic was during the summer both times.

I don’t know if it has to do with what season it is, but our first 2 cruises on the Magic were on and off with ease. Then we cruised in December on the Valor and it was complete chaos, enough to make me never want to go on the Valor ever again.

Fyi, they made you leave the staterooms. You had to wait anywhere you could. I have been on 14 cruises and never experienced anything like this. We didn't get to our car until noon. I understand things happen but this was poorly executed by anyone's standard.

When we cruised the Vista last October there were a lot of people that tried to jump the line. The priority guest's were to be let of first then FTTF and so on. There were so many people trying to jump line that it jammed up the process. I was glad Very glad to see the crew not allow them to exit till it was their time. They made people leave the dining room...

Often times debarkation delays are all on US Customs & there is nothing the cruise line can realistically do. If they don’t have the personnel or they have reason to suspect something untowards is happening they can gum up debarkation for 1000s of passengers—no explanation given. Last cruise in Galveston this was the issue. Every cruise we do the walk off & have been off the ship, thru Customs, hit the parking shuttle & are driving away from the port before 9AM. The last cruise about a year ago on Carnival Freedom it was almost 11AM. But Carnival essentially put it all on Customs Enforcement.

Debarkation was delayed due to weather getting into port late..agree casino extremely smokey

Review spot on. Vistas Embarkation and disembarkation is disaster. A major problem is they didn't build in enough service elevators. So they shut down half the elevators to handle luggage. Major design flaw. It dams the entire process. Casinos also poorly designed and smokey for a relatively new ship.

I loved the Vista. But I sailed her last European and then B2B on Transatlantic. Debarkation was not bad in NY. Sorry to hear your experience was not as good.

Honestly, this is why I started paying more for an inside cabin on a higher level above, below, or on the lido. We used to have the first 2 floors and it was just too overwhelming on the Dream class ships. I’d get separated from my children and people DID NOT CARE! This way, we can make it to the lido easier to chill. I just saw one of our interior cabins cost the same-ish as an ocean view 😳😬.

Yeah, we saw that one was very late getting into the port.

I’m with you Mason2x, I’d rather sleep and get off later

I don't recall ever having a debarkation delay in 7 yrs. But we usually cruise during off season. We have also been very lucky that weather has always been good. I'd prefer if we didn't have to wake up early to get off.

I never understand why people bitch about debarkation lol like chill out why you want off ship so badly? Lol plan your flights home accordingly so you don’t have to be stressed and rushed. Stuff happens! Lol I stay on ship as long as possible! Lol last time gangways were broke and couldn’t get off ship till almost 1! So just chill and go with it!

Debarkation did take longer however we had delays coming in due to weather for this cruise..we were allowed to stay in our stateroom until 930am...zone#17 for us..same cruise.. once they called out zone everything flowed from there...got off ship around 12:30pm

I've been reading a lot about the horrible debarkation on Vista? What was your zone #?
