Ship: Carnival Vista

Review summary

I am a Seasoned Platinum Carnival Cruiser, and have 2 Sons that have worked for Carnival. So I have seen Carnival's Transitions. Beware that the VISTA ship is a large ship bit is terribly understaffed. It will be noticeable in the long line in various areas, long waits for food in dining room that always seem to arrive warm or just plain cold. Room Stewarts seem to work alone without assistants, unlike other ships, so patience will be needed. Beware that there are less elevators so you will be forced to wait for elevator's for extended period of time. The staff are wonderfully patient people, so please please be considerate and respectful. Some staff look weary and over worked. Carnival needs to pay more to recruit more staff... this might help a lot of their problems. Carnival needs to stick with what works.

The fact that there was a lot of things to do was nice, but at what expense? Did we really want to giving up valuable space in our room and public spaces for it. Bigger is not always better! At least not for me.

I hear a lot of good things about the Breeze. Wish I could have cruised that ship before it left Galveston.

We’ve only cruised Magic twice and Valor once with one booked this summer on Vista. So far the Valor is my least favorite. I definitely plan to try the Asian place and steak house!

Agree. Even the Vista staff were commenting of the same on our cruise. We loved the Breeze and would choose that ship again over the Vista.

We were on the breeze last fall and had a blast. We were really looking forward to this ship but I’m now so worried it will be awful with these reviews... but I’m still determined to have an amazing time! As for the elevators... we had the same problem on the breeze last year and just ended up taking the stairs . But, we were on deck 8 and 9 so it wasn’t bad to take them cause we were so close to everything... this year, we’re on deck 1 so that might be a nightmare too. But at least we’ll get our exercise! ;)

Agree with elevator situation. It's a total disaster. I'm not sure why they didn't design more service elevators into their operation so people can get around especially on the first day. Overall ship design is pretty poor. It doesn't flow well at all

We board the vista in January and are looking forward to it. We have cruised with Norwegian and carnival and can honestly say we enjoyed both cruise lines. I guess its what you make of it. We are on vacation on beautiful blue waters and not at work, whats not to love!!!! Nothing is perfect in life like i said earlier its what you make out of your vacation. Cruise to fun😎🚢

I hate to hear all of this. I have high hope for this ship. The Valor was a complete flop, in my opinion, for us in August. I think it’s neat you have kids that have worked for the cruise line. My son would love to one day become a cruise director.

We were on vista last year. TERRIBLE! Those palm trees in the middle of the walk way makes it hard to get by anywhere when there is a HUGE line at the buffet. Won’t ever cruise on that ship again.

I agree that the ship feels understaffed, but i was pretty sure our room steward had help.

Nice review and I agree. Also the view in the Liquid Lounge is terrible if you don’t get front row seating.

No.... They just need to kick up the temp slightly on the buffet like the other ships ...The staff were wonderful but can only do things really well if they don't feel rushed or under constant scrutiny. The Cruise Director and His staff made our time on the ship so much fun. Go to GiGi Asian Restaurant, while on this cruise ship. Our group enjoyed a family style nine course Asian meal for 15.00 per person. The food at Gigi's was always served hot and seasoned well. The rooms are definitely smaller like the hallways. I really missed the second closet and a descent size trash can that is not the size of an Ice Bucket. The TV in the rooms were a nice size and they also added to their Room Service Menu. Try eating around the ship to make your trip a delectable treat.

I agree with all that u said including acknowledging how hard and wonderful the staff is. We did notice these things while in the vista this summer but it was still a wonderful vacation all the way around. We r dedicated carnival cruisers.

I’m glad you’re giving a heads up, because I was thinking about giving them a try. I’m normally a Norwegian cruiser, so I think I’ll just stick with them as they’re staffed very well, but I will say, their foods in the buffet are barely warm and sometimes cold also. Maybe because they don’t want a lawsuit against them from someone being burned.
