Over-all we had a wonderful time! Can't wait to go again
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Galveston has embarktion process down to an art. Our time was 1:00-1:30 pm. We arrived in galveston at noon and due to our own fault, we didn't get into like to board until 10 min till 1 pm. By 1 pm we were already in our stateroom and headed to Guy's BBQ on board and scouting out the ship layout.

Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The choices on the buffets were not many however very clean and the staff always available, friendly and ready to assist. Food in the main dining room was amazing as was Katia, our waitress. She always met us with a smile and eager to spoil us. We chose anytime dining and thee first night was terrible. Our waitress did exactly that, make us wait. We were given one glass of water a each and offered nothing else. We were served bread and waited and waited and waited. Finally, our order was taken for our appetizer and entre. The one night we looked forward to, was awful! She brought our appetizers, cold, she didn't stick around for us tell her we wanted tea to drink. I finally caught another waiter and he told her, however she only brought one glass of ice tea, no sugar and didn't stick around to see if we needed anything else. She finally brought our lobster...cold....and was putting my husbands plate down and walking away at the same time. I got her attention and asked for another glass of tea for myself, again she abruptly leaves not asking if we needed anything else. After the entree, we needed a refill and I finally held my glass in the air and another waiter refilled it. I had the creme brule` which was cold and my husband had the cheese, which was suppose to be cold, lucky him. Needless to say, we found a supervisor and wen to guest services with the issue. The next night, we were met by the supervisor who was very apologetic about the night before along with the seating staff and went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied as well as comped us drinks. Thank you so much for listening.

Onboard Activities

We loved, loved, loved Chris the Flying Scotsman. He made the trip a blast! We would like to see Carnival add a swimming pool for adults. It is very difficult to enjoy pool time with so many children in and out of the pool. All though the Serenity area is kid-free, it is boring. Elevator music and no pool. We are old, not dead and still like to dance and have fun. Loved the music on the lido deck however, there are no umbrellas and being Irish decent, I am light complected and must be careful in the sun. Pool areas were always clean and very well staffed. We did not take advantage of the fitness centers all though we should.

Love love love Cherry on Top. The $10 store was my next favorite store...spent way too much $$$$ in both of them.

Fun and beautiful area. Would like to have umbrellas for the loungers.
Entertainment

Loved the Liquid Lounge performances and the showdowns, the Michael Jackson showdown was a blast! I would not have been as much fun without the Flying Scotsman. I wish there were more theatrical performances or plays. Would like to see spontaneous performances/skits. Less electric violins. All though beautiful, it becomes boring after a while and especially if more than one night. Different shows. The comedians do the same show for all performances.

This is a great auditorium! Please remove the glass banister from deck 5 seating...it doesn't work for short people.

Our room steward, Panomporn (Pan) was awesome! He made sure we had everything we needed to make it through a day and night. He always greeted us with a smile and cheerful "good morning/afternoon/night William and Peggy!"

I know cleaning up after others is a difficult task and I just clean after myself and my hubby. I can't imagine running after 5000+ 24/7. The Carnival staff on the Vista manage to do so without missing a beat. Dining areas, bathrooms, halls, state rooms, everywhere was always clean. Love it!
Cabin / Stateroom

We were on the Breeze last year and loved the cabin but not the noise from the lido deck. So this year we stayed on deck 8. No noise! Awesome. However, the designer wasted so much space by not utilizing it. Our closet that was big and spacious on the Breeze was cut in half on Vista. We were sharing closet space with the A/C unit. So we had one tiny area to hang all of his clothes and yes, all of mine. It is very difficult to squeeze 7 days of clothing (plus 2 formals) in a 2 foot wide closet that was just the part to hang clothing. The other 2 ft area consisted of 3 shelves, the safe and 3 drawers that hubby and I had to share. We made it work as we had no choice. The desk (which could have had drawers like the Breeze desk) did offer a double USB plug which was wonderful for our phones this freed-up the on single plug in the whole room for curling/flat iron, hair dryer, (which the ship offers and it takes up the whole ONE drawer on the desk). Another portion of the desk was taken up by the rather large telephone. I was unable to unpack my make as there was not place to put it so it stayed neat in my case and the ONE drawer held my brush, comb, mini flat iron/dryer and curling iron. There was no room thanks to the hair dryer that comes with the room. We loved the convenience of the light switch placed on the wall in the of the bed, night stands with lamps and the movable mirror in the bathroom. The Fridge was nicely tucked away and hidden under a counter. The bed was very comfy and nothing fancy or spectacular about the stateroom. It was very clean when we arrived and Pan our steward was wonderful in keeping it that way.
Ship tip
BE PATIENT with other guests, accompany your children EVERYWHERE and please by all means, be nice to the Flying Scottsman!
so over this port. It is a stop on every cruise. The shop owners wear you out with trying to get you to buy something, it's exhausting. We only ate and took a few pics and quickly returned to the ship.
Need more elevators. Every one is too ready to disembark therefor, causing elevators to be too full for the decks who were called to disembark, to get on. Perhaps staff on each elevator to monitor use during disembarktion???
