Review summary

As I understand it, the Vista is Carnival's newest and largest ship. It was clean. It does seem that there are too many passengers for the facilities. Long waits for elevators, food lines, no room in hot tubs or pool areas. Some of this might be due to the rain that sort of kept passengers in doors. Buffet food was pretty good. There is no doubt though that this is a business designed to make money. No issue with that but I think most people expect the formal dining food to be a step up - it wasn't. If you want better food then there are a few premium restaurants on board. One other example is paying $2.50 for single Earl Grey tea bag at afternoon tea. My bottom line opinion is that if you are new to cruising then you probably will like this and have a great time. If like us and remember what cruising was like 10-15 years ago then things have changed.

Pack your own tea & ask for hot water. I do.

You ought to see afternoon tea prices at Disney World... but, that is an “experience” you’re paying for. Good review, appreciate your honesty.

If you're worried about tea prices, I believe you could pack some of your own favorite flavors of tea. I plan on bringing my favorites with me on my upcoming cruise!!!

Sorry, meant to say I sailed Vista last December - not Horizon.

Yes... if have learned anything in my 58 years... Things Change... But I thank God I am Alive, and when my Wife and I are blessed with a Cruise ( so many aren't)... I'm gonna be Thankful, and not Moan and Complain...

Horizon is Carnival's latest ship. I sailed on her last December and it was not as spectacular as I expected. Elevators were STUPID busy. They use the Main elevators to move luggage onto and off the ship leaving passengers to wait 20 or more minutes for an elevator to get them where they need to go. I never experienced this on any other ship. I found the food mediocre and boring. I'm returning to Royal Caribbean.

All lines are in business to make money that is the bottom line.
