Review summary

We had a great time on this cruise and all Carnival cruises we take. Even with a few hiccups, the staff did everything to make the trio enjoyable. This was my first 8 day sailing and that extra day does make a difference

Embarkation

They had a gangway not working and I was expecting long lines. They notified us of this prior to the cruise but I made my boarding time of 12-12:30

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We had 3 bad meals with my time dining. 1 meal was the food,all 9 ordered beef welling rare and all came in welldone and god knows what the hell happened to the undercooked peas and french fries. The wait staff was wonderful regardless of the food 2 others the tables were not set prior to our seating. I understand the turn over with my time dining. Mini and Tanusree were wonderful, followed up on our concerns and we met with the maitre d. He offered special breakfast but it was Saturday night and we were leaving the ship.

Our group loved this bar, the crazy drinks were fantastic and the banter with the bar tenders made the late evenings hilarious. Special thanks to Miro, Yulia and Varya, I hope I got that right

Although there were several issues with several meals, and we are not picky people, Aidalyn was the best Head Waitress of the week. We tried to get her whenever possible but we always made a point to say hi. Her help was just as good as she kept them on top of everything! Thanks to Aidalyn, Roberto and JC Lynn

Onboard Activities

The pools and hot tubs are always a treat. I did the waterslides, at 55, and putt putt and the sky bike. I enjoyed several movies as well.

Entertainment

Flick was very good, the entire show staff worked very hard. Mark Hawkins and I think the other comedian was Manny Olivera were very good, I love the comedy shows

I had to change to a lower room this year due to financial reasons. I wish there were options for single travelers. I hate paying for 2 people since I travel alone. If Royal or another carrier has this feature with destinations I want, I would consider changing but with 10-15 going all the time, Id still be alone but I would spend that money on the ship anyway

Ship tip

Try to stay near midship, I was in the bow and new I would have more motion from the ocean, and I loved the view and the mini deck, but if you get motion sickness, stay away from the front

We did the snorkeling with the mini torpedos that pull you thru the water. It was safe, well done and enjoyable. There was always 1 or 2 guides in the water and 1 in a boat keeping an eye on everyone.

Did the walking tour and it was great. Got to taste several foods that were ready when we arrived so with 16 people, there was no waiting, more time to enjoy the sites.

Did the rail tour. It was a 2 hour train ride and you were reminded of just how hard these islands were hit by the hurricanes. The trip back to the ship was a bit long as it was a tour as well . But there were drinks on board so we had fun.

We took our own bags off and went from Miami to FLL and were check thru the airport by 9:30 am and I was even able to catch an earlier flight.
