Review Summary

This was our Fifth Carnival cruise and our first on the Victory, for a four day trip to Half Moon Cay and Nassau. It was just a mid-winter break to get out of the cold winter weather. The Victory seemed typical of your Carnival cruise ships, but for some reason felt more crowded than others we have been on. On the Sea Day, we had to walk all around the pool decks to finally snag a couple of deck loungers when another family was leaving. The buffet always had a line, but we only went there for breakfast on port days, otherwise we ate on the dining room or at Guys Burgers. We stayed on the ship when we stopped at Half moon Cay, and I have to say, the ship was blissfully quiet for a few hours. We are avid slot players, and one place that never really felt crowded was the casino. The casino has a limited number (and variety) of slot machines, but it never felt overly full after the first night. We ate in the dining room every night and the food was good, not great, but good enough. The service was very good. At Nassau, we took a cab ($18 plus tip each way) to Baha Mar, which is absolutely beautiful. The casino at Baha Mar was far nicer than Atlantis. Plenty of machines, very clean, very attentive staff and nice views. The beach and pool area are breathtaking. Our cabin was kept clean, but the first few days it had an overwhelming odor of sewer gasses. On the third night, the smell was unbearable, and there was a constant gurgling in the pipes in the bathroom. We called Guest Services and they sent out a plumber, who replaced a part and unclogged a pipe, but he left raw sewage on the floor in the shower and in the bathroom. After the plumber left, Housekeeping came a few minutes later to clean the bathroom. We finally got to bed after midnight, but the smell was much better the next day. Guest Services offered us a free steakhouse selection for our trouble. Overall, it was a good, short trip.
